The Ice Door Solenoid Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. This assembly controls the opening and closing of the ice door, which allows ice to be dispensed from the freezer to the exterior of the appliance. When you request ice, the solenoid activates, opening the ice door and permitting ice to pass through.

Symptoms of a bad Ice Door Solenoid Assembly include:

  • Ice door not opening or closing properly
  • Failure to dispense ice
  • Ice accumulating or jamming at the dispenser

Causes for a malfunctioning Ice Door Solenoid Assembly can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring, wear and tear from frequent use, or mechanical problems affecting the solenoid's ability to move the ice door.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Hello Nisso, This is most likely a bad seal on the ice door. This can be caused by a bad ice door seal 3581JA1182H or by the motor EAU60943434 or linkages not pulling the ice door shut all the way.

Dustin, There are a couple of things to look at. The first thing that you will want to check is to make sure that the solenoid is not stuck in the up position. When you pull out the ice bin, look back where the motor is and there will be a square hole where the arm on the bin goes into. Make sure that the solenoid shaft is in the down position. If not the push down and slide the bin back in and check for cubed ice. Also push on the light switch and push the dispenser lever when the bin is out to make sure that the solenoid is moving up and down when it calls for cubed ice. If this checks ok then you will want to make sure that the dispenser door is closing all the way and not allowing moisture to migrate back into the freezer causing ice build up in the crusher housing of the bin. Check the crusher bin housing to make sure that there is not ice behind the flapper door that would cause the door not to open.

Chris for Model Number LG LFX25980ST

The flapper valve that keeps cold air in the ice maker will not fully close and makes a vibrating noise as the cold air rushes out of the ice maker. I can push it closer with my finger but it will not stay sealed against the opening. I used a mirror and could see the spring was still in place but can't tell if it is broken or not. How do I access this area to inspect the spring? Is the spring what keeps the flapper valve closed after the ice is dispensed?

1 Answer

Chris, To remove the dispenser assembly to get to the door spring you will need to take out the drip tray and pushing down on the area below the drip tray pull forward. This should release the bottom of the dispenser and then you will need to work your way around the dispenser and release it and pull it off.

John A for Model Number LFX25976SB

The Water Valve Assy at the bottom right back of unit was replaced by a repairman bad gasket was leaking. Now we are not getting water to Ice Maker. We are getting water to water dispenser in door. We have turned the Power switch on and off. We cleaned the Ice detecting sensor. We called the repairman back and they said we had a bad motor behind ice maker in door. Any suggestions. Ice maker was working fine before the Water Valve Assy was replaced

1 Answer

John, Try hitting the test switch at the bottom of the icemaker to see if the icemaker cycles and puts water into the icemaker. If not then it could be a bad water valve in the door. If the icemaker does not cycle at all then the icemaker motor may be faulty.
