The Sump and Motor Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG dishwashers. As a functional pumping component, it circulates water and removes debris during dish cycles.

Symptoms of a bad sump and motor assembly can include:

  • Inability to properly fill or drain water from the dishwasher
  • Leaks or excessive pooling of water inside the unit
  • Loud knocking or grinding noises from the motor area

Causes of failure may involve a clogged or cracked sump housing impairing flow, or wear of the motor bearings degrading power output over time.

This genuine OEM LG part is also compatible with some select Kenmore brand models.

Bg for Model Number Frigidaire Affinity washer

Background: Got read to do a load of laundry and when I pressed start all I got was a load buzzing sound. Recall of error code showed E21 = low drain flow Tipped the washer over to access the drain filter and found the usual bra wires and coins. No damage seen on the pump impeller. Put the drain hose back on and plugged everything in and..... Nothing - no lights, no codes. Looked for loose or disconnected cables - nothing seen. Your help/insight is most appreciated..

Hello Eric, Nine times out of ten the issue is a bad drain pump EAU61383518. The tenth time it is caused by a grease build-up in the drain line that prevents the water from exiting the unit properly.

Lately my dishwasher has not been draining and throwing an 'OE' error. I went through the manual and googled the error and it recommended to clear the outflow line. I did this and it worked for one more load. My next step was to open up the sump pump assembly to see if debris had blocked the drainage mechanisms. It was really gross in there and after wiping things clean, and washing all the parts. When I reassembled everything, it did drain... Unfortunately all over the floor and down through to my neighbors below. I have disassembled and reassembled a few times to see i I did something wrong. And the same thing happens with about three minutes of the cycle starting. Will a replacement of the whole assembly and gasket fix this? Should I just but a new unit? If I don't DIY it might cost the same with parts, markup and labor.

Fred, Part number 4681ED3001D and is a stepping motor for the diverter. If the upper spray arm is not working then this would be the most likely problem with unit.

Hello Tony. If the unit is filling with water and then just hums, you will need to check and see if something is stuck inside the sump and is jamming the motor. If not, replace the motor pump assembly AJH31248608. If it does not fill with water, you may need to replace the valve 5221DD1001F. Hope this helps.

Bruce for Model Number LDS4821ST

I followed your suggestions and even had a repair tech come out to diagnose my problem asked earlier (dishes are not getting cleaned and appears water is not going through the spray arms. The tech confirmed the water was not being forced up in the upper rack and recommened the sump assembly to be replaced. To save on labor I thought I would order part AP4447671 myself and attempt the repair. I flipped the dishwasher on it side and it looks pretty simple (hose and wire connections) but can't figure out how to get the existing motor pump assembly removed. I wanted to make sure I could handle it before I ordered the part. In reviewing other questions and answers, it appears I may NOT need to replace the entire sump assembly. Based on other users questions, do I only need part AP4438603 and not the entire sump assembly? Which parts specifically come with the sump assembly? Thanks!

Hi Bruce. Before you buy the motor/sump assy., first try to do a thorough cleaning of the unit. Remove the racks and the wash arms. Use a pick tool to assist. and invert the wash arms and rinse out or dislodge debris from the jet holes. Get a shop vac and a torx type screwdriver tips (T-20) to start at the top and remove the top filter flow plate with the fine mesh screen. Clean all parts as you go. The wet vac will help greatly. There is a impeller that is black and approx. 2-1/2 " diameter that if it is clogged or broken it will not create the pressure needed to allow the upper wash arms to turn. It is part# 5911ED3003A. Lay all parts aside carefully so you can reassemble them. There is a chopper blade at the bottom ,part # 5832DD4001A. If this is damaged replace it also as it slices the food particles for the drain. The motor pump assy. is part # AJH31248608. Thank You.
