For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM16955256)

Matt for Model Number DA97-07365G

Dear Pro's, I have purchased 2 of these from you since 2015, they both failed after doing the exact same thing. Unplugging my refrigerator and moving from one side of the kitchen to the other, plug back in and the ice cube maker never comes back on. The ice maker that came with the refrigerator lasted 7 years and it failed in the exact same way. The first replacement ice maker lasted 2 years, the second one also only lasted 2 years and dated 2017. I have tried the blue test button and no sounds are made, are these ice makers failing or are they stuck in some type of error mode or why does unplugging the unit cause failure. I am hesitant to purchase another one considering I have also replaced every shelf almost twice since I bought this fridge in 2008. I absolutely will never buy another Samsung but right now a comparable model is almost $4000.00, any thoughts?

1 Answer

Matt, Unfortunately, we do not have information on why your icemaker is failing by removing power from the unit. It is always best before you remove power from the icemaker to turn the icemaker to the off position. This is done through the controls that way there is no type of surge to the icemaker.

John Ryan for Model Number RF4287HARS/XAA-01

Hello Pros, I have a Samsung RF4287HARS/XAA Rev01 that I have replaced the ice maker twice because of freezing problems. It will work for a week or two and then have to be thawed and removed then reinstalled, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. What is happening is the concaved fill hole on the ice maker is filling up with water and freezing over not allowing water to go into the ice maker. So when that happens the ice maker gets stuck and has to be thawed to be able to remove it. Any ideas what to do next?

1 Answer

John, With the fill tube freezing over, this will most likely be caused by a faulty water valve that is allowing water to seep in and freeze.

Terri, Based on the information provided I would check the fan motors for noise issues and check to see that the temp at the ice maker is below 10°F.

PaintB51, You will want to reinstall the icemaker and put the icemaker into a harvest cycle. Test to see if the water valve is getting 120 vac to it when the unit calls for water. If there is not then the icemaker would be the issue. If there is then the valve would be the issue.

Jeb for Model Number RFG297HDRS/XAA-01

My ice maker will make ice off and on, but it will not deliver it (the motor that controls the auger will not engage when a glass is pressed onto the ice dispenser lever in the front door. So I don't know if replacing the icemaker will solve my problem. Any suggestions? This refrigerator is in one of my rental houses. The tenant says she has gotten the auger to turn once before, but only after "working with it". I am not sure what she meant by that lol.

1 Answer

Jeb, This issue would not have anything to do with the icemaker if the ice is making but will not dispense. You will want to check to make sure that there is 120 Vac to the auger motor and if there is not 120 vac then the dispenser board would be the likely issue. If there is power then the issue will be a faulty auger motor.

Amin for Model Number RF220NCTASR/AA

Hello Pro's! I have a 5-year-old Samsung fridge with top inside water and bottom shelf ice maker in the freezer. The ice maker water line is rejecting water (when ice maker requests water) it leaks out the back. I'm assuming I would just replace the ice maker assembly as a whole unit for ease. But I can't find installation instructions and want to confirm that the DA97-07365G unit is right for my fridge as most videos show it as an upper assembly. Any help is appreciated

1 Answer

Amin, the water fill tube above the ice maker will need to be checked for an ice block. If there is ice clogging the tubing, the water valve DA97-13268A would need to be replaced and the ice cleared out.

Bill, the two ice makers are going to be different. However, if the REV number could be provided in a new question, this will allow the correct part numbers to be identified for your model.
