Ann February 25, 2019 for Model Number WF419AAW/XAA03 Does this Samsung washer have one or two balance rings? If there are two, is the same part number used for both rings?
1 Answer Ann, according to the parts diagram for your washer, there should only be one balance ring and it is part number [DC97-12135A]. Read More...
1 Answer Linda, if both rings have failed then you would want to change them both out. If only one has failed then you could change only one ring. Read More...
Debbie January 25, 2019 for Model Number WF218ANB/XAA I watched your video and successfully diagnosed the problem was the spider arm assembly, I purchased it along with new bolts and a tub seal. I didn't notice any damage to either of the balance rings so I proceeded to put it all back together only to hear a noise like something rolling around in the tub. It this an indication that the balance rings are damaged where as to I cannot physically see the damage, there were no visible cracks of any kind. This model has 2 top and bottom, how do I determine which one is damaged or is it one of those that both have to be replaced at the same time. Your video is awesome, by the way! Thank you in advance.
1 Answer Debbie, It does sound like you lost the fluid from the balance ring. You can remove the rings and determine which one is damaged or replace them both would be my advice. Read More...
Robert January 05, 2019 for Model Number Samsung WF330ANW/XAA I have smoke coming out of the drum on several ocassions. The drum is extreamly out of balance making tremendous noise, and has been getting worse over time. Based on research, I assumed it was the spider arm. I disassembled the entire machine and the spider arm and bearings are fine and intact. The balance ring has fluid and beads ratteling around. Fluid seems very thick and does not move freely. All 4 shocks feel consitant when I push them up and down. They seam fine. Springs are firm and look like new. I can't overstate the shaking I am experiencing when this machine in is spin cycle, not to mention the ocassional smoke. If it is not the parts I am looking at, what else could it be.
1 Answer Robert, With this issue if the spider is not broken the bearings may look ok but may be wobbly causing the unbalance. This would be the most likely cause with everything else looking ok. Read More...
Charles December 26, 2018 for Model Number WF350ANR/XAA-0000 The answer to my question before is only one balance ring for this unit. Thanks for that, but in the video, there are two balance rings, one at each end of the drum, it’s very confused. Because I want it to be clear before buying any ports. Thanks!
1 Answer Charles, This unit is showing 1 balance ring and it goes on the front of the drum, The rear of the drum is not showing the balance ring. This video is for general idea of how to do it. Read More...
Charles December 25, 2018 for Model Number WF350ANR/XAA-0000 How many balance ring this unit has? Does it need to replace all of them at the same time?
Latichia December 05, 2018 for Model Number WF42H5600AW/A2 We have changed the Spider Arm, all 4 stabilizers and the control board. Feet are Firmly on the floor. The tub shakes when going into spin mode- it consistently resets over and over in the spin mode for hours. What other parts could cause this issue? Is there a spin/balance sensor located elsewhere? What about determining if the balance rings are Defective? Do I have to disassemble the unit to inspect the rings?
1 Answer Latichia, It could be a balance ring that is faulty but also check to make sure that the rotor and stator do not have damage to them. Put the unit into diagnostics and see if there are any stored error codes. Read More...
Javaries November 16, 2018 for Model Number Wf330anb/xaa During any wash cycle or test cycle my washer get stuck in an continuous loop between the rinse/spin cycle. I finally got an dc error code for unbalanced load. This all started to happen after I replaced the spider arm. Just recently since trying to solve the problem i noticed i left a washer and a rubber gasket on the old shaft of the old arm. Could this be the solution to my balance problem or do I need a balance ring. Because it's making a noise when I spin the tub not sure if a ring should sound like this
1 Answer Javaries, While it is possible that the balance ring is faulty it would be recommended to make sure that the seal that you found on the old spider shaft that the new one has it as well. If this checks ok then the balance ring may need replaced. Read More...
Alan October 02, 2018 for Model Number WF431ABP/XAA 01 Like the others, the unit spins out of balance, even when empty of clothing. The unit smelled of smoke after the spin cycle (with clothing). Q: Should the machine spin out of balance while empty of clothing? After reviewing the videos, I have the machine broken down to the point of removing the inner drum. The main shaft is seized to the bearing and I have been attempting to loosen it for most of the day. I've tried penetrating fluid and different hammers (with a throw-away bolt in the shaft) and dead blow mallet without success. My next step would be an impact hammer. Q: how resilient is the outer tub to this kind of stress? Also, there isn't really any looseness / side to side movement from the spider.... it definitely doesn't seem to be broken, I can't tell if it is cracked yet. If I can't separate the shaft, then I'm kinda stuck... I have read that the balance rings can either leak the fluid or the fluid becomes too thick to work properly. The front balance ring seems to have some fluid along with the beads in it, but I don't know how thin the fluid should be.... how easily the beads navigate the fluid. They are very slow to move. Q: How quickly should the beads within the balance ring move around? The tub does make noise when spinning (without the front balance ring) that sounds like there are beads in the rear balance ring. By the sound of it, those beads are much more free to move than the ones in the front balance ring. Also, with the front balance ring removed, the inner tub is more balanced and doesn't favor one position of the spin as when the front ring is installed. The shocks seem okay
1 Answer Alan, Maybe removing the lid might help see better. You have two springs on top that the washer hangs from and 4 suspension shocks underneath that i would check first. Make sure the leveling legs are down against the floor. Read More...
Tim A September 21, 2018 for Model Number WF448AAW/XAA My washer refused to spin/drain with a load of towels in it. I took the top off and discovered a broken spring on the left side. I decided this would not have happened unless there was another balance problem. So I pulled and disassembled the tub. The video was helpful but this is a major job. The spider was not broken but is very corroded and has lots of lint and gunk stuck to it, especially between the spider and the drum. From other Q&As it sounds like I need to replace it. In my opinion this is a very poor design. I have also read that the corrosion is caused by the dissimilarity of the metal used for the spider from the stainless steel drum. Has Samsung fixed this problem in the replacement part? The picture of the part still looks like it has plenty of crevasses for gunk to build up in. The bearings still seem good. The balance rings sound like they have fluid and balls when I flip it over vertically. But I can't hear the balls move when I hold it vertically and rotate it 180 degrees to position the top at the bottom. Do these rings sound like they need to be replaced?
1 Answer Tim, We are not aware of any design changes that the manufacturer has made to the spider. As for the balance ring it sounds like it has the fluid and balls so it would be good. Read More...
