Dave April 17, 2013 for Model Number RS26WUSW Everything is working fine EXCEPT: the panel on the outside walls is warm and the one dividing the refer/freezer is very hot. Almost too hot to touch. Is there a heater in this side by side that maybe evaporates moisture? Can it be disconnected? I live in Panama and service is almost impossible to find (well, a tech anyway) so I must jury rig this myself or end up with a burned up refer...can you help? Thanks, Dave
1 Answer Dave, There is not a heater in the mullion or the cabinet of the refrigerator for keeping moisture off the cabinet. This is done by the use of the refrigerant lines that run throughout the unit. Normally if the cabinet and center mullion are getting to hot then it indicates a bad condenser fan motor or the coils are completely impacted. You will want to check these things to make sure that they are in order. Read More...
Sarah March 27, 2013 for Model Number rs2544sl Samsung I had a technician identify that m heater is bad and need to be replaced. I purchased this part because the heater is not sold separately. Is it possible for me to just take the heater and sensors fro this part and replace easily? Any tips on the best way to go about it? Thank you
1 Answer Sarah, The heater is part of the evaporator loop and cannot be taken out. You would have to remove refrigerant from system and braze in the new part and recharge the unit. Read More...
Jake March 25, 2013 for Model Number Samsung RS2577SW My freezer is working fine but the fridge side is not cold. i can unplug and disassemble the panel and see that the evaporator it has ice build up. I had unplug it over night and wait until the ice melt and plug it back up and the fridge working again for at least 2 to 3 weeks than it ice up again. What parts do i need to replace ? If it the DA96-00020Q Evaporator assembly if i de-solder the copper tube do I need to re-fill any refridgerant .
1 Answer Hello Jake. You will need the evaporator and yes, it is a sealed system issue and you will need refridgerant. Read More...
George S February 16, 2013 for Model Number RS2545SH WOW - Samsung installs/builds faulty Defrost Sensors, which I buy 4 at a time @ $5.86 each because they go out so often, and now won't sell it separately - forcing customers (former customers likely) to pay over $60 for an assembly that you scavenge for parts? What a rip-off! It would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic. My question is why don't you sell the Defrost Sensor separately? They're available on other websites separately. Is Samsung behind this unethical practice?
1 Answer Hello George, Samsung has made the original sensor no longer available but you can still get as a separate part. The part number you would need is part DA32-10105R Read More...
Chris December 28, 2012 for Model Number RFG299AARS Thank you for this service. We were trying to find a popped breaker yesterday and turned every breaker off and on. Now we are receiving a message on our Samsung Refrigerator LCD screen that states: Checkpoint: FF Def Sensor Check the cooling room (Freezing Room) Prolonged storage may damage foods. OK (hold for 3 seconds) So I held the button and the message reappeared today. We are selling out home in 11 days and I want to avoid a costly technician call out. I am not sure if I need to purchase and replace the defrost sensor assembly, or if I need to reset something to get the message to stop coming on the screen? Any help would be most welcome. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Chris, You will want to pull the rear wall of the refrigerator section to see if there are any burnt or broken wires to the defrost thermostat or thermistor. If there is then you will need to replace. You can also check resistance to make sure that you have resistance through the thermistor and thermostat. If you do not have resistance and it is reading open then this would be the cause of the failure. Read More...
Jeff October 31, 2012 for Model Number RS267LASH Fridge door got left open. Fridge now not cool but freezer is. Paula October 17, 2012 for Model Number RS255BASB/XAA Hello, I have a Samsung refrigerator. The freezer works fine, but the refrigerator is not cooling. We took it apart and there was ice on the...I guess it is the evaperator part. Do we have to replace the whole thing? What part do you think I need? Thanks, P
1 Answer Hello Paula, You either have a bad defrost thermostat sensor DA47-10160H, a bad defrost heater [DA59-00233H], a bad evaporator temperature sensor DA32-10105R, or a bad main control board DA41-00295D. You can test these with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Ash July 18, 2012 for Model Number RS2556SH Freezer works fine, but the fride does not work. There is ice on the evaporator assembly and it looks like it needs to be replacement. Is it a simple fix, or do I need to get a tech involved.
1 Answer Hello Ash. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. On this model, you will need a certified tech to recharge the sealed system for the evaporator DA96-00020Q in the unit. Read More...
Tom May 26, 2012 for Model Number RS2545SH Hi, I was wondering what can be the problem if the water dispenser doesn't work all the time? It seems like it works when it wants to work. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Tom. Check and make sure the lever is not loose and missing the switch. If so, you may need to replace the lever DA66-00197H in the unit so it contacts the switch each time it is pressed. This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Read More...
Jungapo1 May 12, 2012 for Model Number RS267LASH/XAA My refrigerator has defective defrost heater in the fridge side. It is opened when measured with an ohmmeter. I am thinking of replacing the main board too because it could be the reason why the defrost heater became defective. The defrost heater may not be designed to be energized continuously and this could happen if the main board is defective. That is the reason why other refrigerators will fail again if the defrost heater or evap assembly is the only one being replaced. Other part to replace is the defrost sensor. If this sensor is defective it could send wrong signal to the main board and in turn it energizes the defrost heater longer than it should be. I just want to know if someone could confirm my assessment as mentioned here. Thanks.
1 Answer Hi. All you said is absolutely true. It is a known fact that any electrical device can cause an issue. It is unfortunate but it is known that type of failure can occur when the unit is in defrost cycle and a power surge occurs wiping out all in its path. You can use a appliance surge protector for a better cheaper insurance and they work well enough. The main board is part # DA41-00104M. The evaporator assy part # DA96-00020Q has all the parts you need otherwise and is the only way to get the heater as well. Please call A.P.P. Customer Service @ 1-877-477-7278. Thank You. Read More...
