For Samsung Dryer High Limit Thermostat (Part Number: OEM12605703)

Larry for Model Number DV409AEW/XAA-0000

About 2 weeks ago the thermal fuse (part# AP4201894) opened which caused the dryer not to operate. I clean the dryer vent about four times a year but found the blower wheel full of lint, so I removed and cleaned the wheel everything else inside the dryer cabinet. Installed new thermal fuse everything was working fine until yesterday and the thermal fuse opened again. Again I took everything apart and found the vent piping, blower wheel and everything inside spotless. What else could cause the thermal fuse to open besides lack of air flow. Possible Thermistor or Thermostat or both? Any help here will be appreciated. Thanks.

1 Answer

Larry, It is possible that the thermistor could be faulty causing the dryer to overheat which would cause the thermal fuse to blow.

Cindy, We do not have readings for the parts on the main board but when the dryer is running there should be 120 vac going through the relay to the thermostats. If there is not 120 vac then the board would be the issue.

Maia, You will want to check the thermistor on the unit to make sure that it is good. You would test this for resistance at room temp and should be 10K ohms.

Hello Jason, you'll want to look at the sensor bars DC61-01231A located on the front bulkhead at the bottom the inlet grid. You can try and clean these up with rubbing alcohol and a clean rag. If that doesn't help you might have to replace them, hope this helps!

Chris, This issue will most likely be caused by a bad control board with the unit getting too hot and staying at 1 minute.

Jerry for Model Number DV48H7400EW/A2

i had my dryer for about a year and a half. just recently it stop working. the power comes on but when i press "start", all i hear is a little "tick sound" and doesn't spin or run. although is still displays the drying time. at first, i unplugged and checked the breaker. then i first got the error message of the "door not being properly closed". which it seemed fine. i then did the error coder and got " -: " (negative semicolon) does this mean anything? id like to know more before i try replacing the thermo parts. thanks

1 Answer

Jerry, Your dryer has two(2) thermal fuses, one on the heater housing DC96-00887C / DC96-00887C, which controls the power to the heater, and one on the blower housing DC47-00015A / DC47-00015A, which controls power to the motor. Check the fuse on the blower housing, if it has an open circuit you'll need to replace it in order to restore power to the motor. If that is the case, you will also want to check the exhaust venting and vent hood for kinks, clogs, and restrictions which would cause the heated air to accumulate in the blower and cause the fuse to open and remove power to the motor.

Katie, This issue would most likely be caused by a stuck relay on the main control board that is causing the unit to keep running.

G Powers for Model Number DV431AEP Samsung clothes dryer

I replaced the heating element two months ago when the element broke. It worked fine for two months and now we have no heat again. This time the thermal fuse on the heating assembly melted. I’m aware I need to replace it, but what other parts should be replaced? Specifically concerned that the last two problems are being caused by something else... maybe on the blower? Also, the dryer line is clear and a very short three foot run to the outdoors. Thanks in advance.

G Power, You will want to check the venting of the unit to make sure that the vent is clear from the lint trap to the outside of the home. A restricted vent can cause overheating issue. Also it may be a good idea to change the hi limit thermostat also.

Jessica, The heating element will not come with the wire that comes from the motor but will have the wires that come from the thermostat if you get the assemby. The main harness is the one that would be needed if not the thermostat wire that is bad and would be part number DC93-00153L.
