Questions & Answers

For Samsung Microwave Temperature Control Thermostat (Part Number: OEM12659271)

John for Model Number ME21H706MQG/AA

My above range Samsung microwave has no power. When I took the cover off I discovered the thermostat for the magnetron was burned almost in two. I ordered a replacement part through your company, and when I replaced it I still have no power. The other three thermostats test the way I believe they should, open for the fan thermostat and closed for the other two. Both fuses have continuity. I think the problem is probably in the control panel, which would be cost prohibitive to replace. I have a home warranty with a $100 deductible, although I doubt it would cover the repair/replacement of the microwave. Any suggestions?

Hello John, likely the magnetron part OM75P-21-ESGN has been overheating and has now failed as the magnetron thermostat attaches directly to its side.

Hello Larry, You might be able to find one by an off-brand manufacturer with these specifications but the original, DE96-00733A has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Ray, check the cavity thermostat next, it is located on the top of the oven cavity in the left rear under the outer case, to get to it the microwave needs to be unmounted and the outer case removed.

Ryan, with the microwave unplugged, the door switches would need to be tested for proper operation, especially the primary door switch 3405-001034.

Stephen, the thermal cut out is going to be part number DE47-00050C and an insulated terminal connector would be needed to repair the terminal. With the power disconnected, it would be recommended that the wiring is tested to ensure that it has not been impacted.

Digo for Model Number 40185053010

My Kenmore 40185053010 microwave is not turning on. The fuses had continuity and the door switches appear to be functioning properly. I next tested the four thermostats. But I'm not sure what the normal state for each one is supposed to be. The thermostat above the magnetron DE47-20007B and the one on the top DE47-20060A tested closed. The two behind the control panel, DE47-20034A (left) and DE47-00050C (right), tested open. Do any of the thermostats seem bad? If they are good, what would be the next thing to check? Thank you.

1 Answer

Digo, Only one of the thermostats that are behind the control panel should be in the open state and the other should be closed. Sounds like one of the thermostats needs to be replaced.

Tim, as there are multiple thermostats within this unit, we would only be able to list the part numbers and where they are mounted without a description of which thermostat has failed. The thermostat just behind the control on the bottom right is part number DE47-20059B and is a normally closed circuit. The thermostat located just to the left is the vent thermostat, it is a normally open circuit until heated up, and is part number DE47-20034A. The upper thermostat located at the top is a closed-circuit thermostat and is part number DE47-20007B. The magnetron thermostat is part number DE91-70101F and has been discontinued by the manufacturer, unfortunately.

Fgarvin, the hood thermal cutout located just behind the control on the left is going to be a normally open thermostat that closes when temperatures increase to turn the fan on. During the state of failure, the main control DE92-03624B will need to be tested at connection CN101 pin 1 to ground for 120VAC. If there is voltage, then the main control has failed. If there is not voltage, and nothing has been used that would create heat, then the filter board DE96-00400E would be the most likely failure.
