The Suspension Spring is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is a critical component that helps to support and stabilize the outer tub during the wash and spin cycles, absorbing vibrations and minimizing excessive movement.

Symptoms of a bad suspension spring include:

  • Excessive shaking or vibrating during the wash or spin cycle
  • Loud banging or rattling noises from the washer
  • The washer moving or "walking" across the floor during operation
  • Leaks or potential damage to other components due to increased stress and movement

Causes of suspension spring failure can range from general wear and tear over time and exposure to high-speed spinning, to physical damage from overloading or unbalanced loads.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Robert. Check and see if the inner tub assembly feels loose on the unit. If so, it sounds like the bearings are bad and you will need to replace the outer tub assembly W10772617 on the unit. This will cause the issue you are having with the unit.

Steve for Model Number WTW8600YW0

I've had this new Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum WTW8600YWO for 6 weeks now. Sometimes it drips water on the floor from in the washer left side. Water splashes on the side of the drum and the inside walls of the washer. The warranty service technician lifted the top open and says some springs are missing that secure the drum to the frame base. He checked and he is coming to install them in 2 days. How can there be springs missing when this is new. The factory quality assurance must be realy bad. Was this made on a friday afternoon holiday weekend at the factory?

Hello Steve, The manufacturers only check what the law requires. Last I heard this was actually 1 of every 10 coming off of the assembly line. In the 1980's, when I worked in manufacturing, the requirement was 3 out of 5. Also, you must remember that all appliances are man made and perfection, even if they strived for it, is not possible. We are providing the best service advise we possibly can and as hard as we try, we cannot answer questions for the manufacturer. If you have questions like when was the appliance made,on a holiday, these should be directed towards the good folks that are doing that job. If there are any questions you have that we are empowered to answer, please feel free to post them and we will happily do our very best to get you as accurate an answer in as short a time as we possibly can. Have a fantastic day.

Michael, Other than the locating tabs, that secure the "skate" plate to the tub support, there are no screws. Have you checked the base frame and the skate plate pads for damage, stuck ,or being bent ? And are the rear self levelling legs, "locking" in position ? You may also want to check the spin tub balance ring for cracks or holes and the fluid for a "sloshing" noise, when you shake it. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Mike. Remove the front panel. Lightlt grease the contact points of the spring upon assembly (no squeeks). You can use a pair of vise grips to pull up from the top and unhook from the tub support. Part # is WPW10250667. Thank you.

Timothy for Model Number Whirlpool LSQ9549LW0

I had to take apart my washer after I lost the spin cycle. This website has been immensely helpful! Since I put it back together the tub leans toward the motor and bangs during spin cycle. I had spring bracket AP2905281 in back which is wrong, the diagram shows it should be on the left side. The diagram shows spring bracket AP2915495 in back and one on the right side. It also shows the counter balance spring AP4459650 attaches to this bracket in back, it does not. I drilled a hole in the bracket to attach the counter balance spring, because I don't remember how it attach before, and the tub still leans toward the motor. I'm stumped. Should I replace all 4 springs?
