Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Bearing (Part Number: OEM18027303)

Henry, to replace the tub bearings on this model, the entire tub assembly 280251 would need to be changed out as the manufacturer does not provide the bearings separately.

Another Maytag Repair for Model Number Maytag top load washer - old school from about 2003

I had to replace the main tub spin bearing 4 years ago because the spin cycle sounded like the thing was going to take off and fly. Now almost 4 years later to the day it's making the same sound. I am going to replace the bearing again because other than that, the machine runs just fine. I don't see any water leaking. My Question, since there is so much weight pressing down on the bearing does it make a difference which way it goes in? does the black side go up or the metallic side? the bearing model I ordered last time from you is AP4047999, this time it comes up as AP6009098.

Another Maytag Repair, The bearing would go black side up as if the silver side goes up it could cause the bearing to fail prematurely.

Steve C for Model Number Maytag MHWE300VW12

Hi, Maytag 3000 series, Model: MHWE300VW12, Serial: CSY2011156 My Maytag washer drum does not move at all from start to finish cycles. Before this issue, the drum would spin violently and sounds like a helicopter whirling around during final spin cycle and the washer shakes violently. I saw a video of how to disassemble the entire washer and replacing the seal & bearing, and I'm pretty comfortable performing the repair myself. What do you think is the issue and what parts do I need to replace? Thanks in advance for your help!

1 Answer

Steve, The first thing that you will want to check is the belt to make sure that it is not broken. If the belt checks ok then you will want to pull the unit apart and check the tub spider on the back of the inner tub. If this has broken then it will need to be replaced. Also put the unit through diagnostic and see if there are any stored error codes. The tech sheet is located on the wall inside the unit to help you with this.

John, The manufacturer is the one who decides which parts are in the kit. They are sold as individual parts by the manufacturer.

JC, With the leak and the noise that your unit has, this issue would most likely be caused by the tub bearing and seal and you would need part number W10116791 to repair the unit.

Hello Al. the bearing depends on the series of the unit. As for the tool, you will use a hammer and chisel. The spanner is no longer offered.
