I installed the kit per instructions, but the drive shaft would not fit properly in the top bearing. It was way too tight. After pounding out both bearings the top bearing fit nicely on the shaft. Why was it too tight once installing in the machine, but fine when not installed? I noticed when pressing in the bearings that the "arm" of the installation tool didn't touch the bottom of the sump. There was a small space. Did the top bearing get pressed in crooked? It seemed fine. I presume the new bearings are ruined by pounding out of the machine. Thanks

Hello John, If the bearings were not properly installed, they can be damaged during installation. The manufacturer recommends replacing the outer tub assembly which includes the bearing and shaft assembly pre-installed into the tub by the factory to avoid this issue. It is also possible that there was an issue with the new parts prior to their installation. It is not recommended to re-install the parts one driven back out. We would recommend calling us at 1-877-477-7278 and have the parts replaced under the part warranty. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello TB. You will need to take it apart and install those. Otherwise, the slack will cause the bearings fail on the unit.

Cary for Model Number WTW6700TW1

I have 2 questions. Question # 1: I pulled the inner tub out to replace the drive shaft, bearings and seal. The inner tub sounds as though it has fluid inside of it. I turned it upside down, laid it on its side and cannot get any of the fluid out. Do I not worry about it? Do I drill a hole and try to drain it then plug the hole? What do you think? Question # 2:When I removed the basket hub and the cogged hub, there were (2) metal pieces under it. One is a flat thin washer and one looks like a metal gasket. I do not find the items in the parts listing.

1 Answer

Hello Cary. No, you do not remove that liquid. That is the balance system of the washer. As for the metal shims. I do not see them listed as an available part on the diagram. If they are needed, you will need to use the old ones. May not be needed with the new bearing kit.

Hello Pat. Sure, you can get that error with bad bearings. If it causes the tub to be binding up.
