The Bearing and Tub Seal Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It includes high-quality bearings and a tub seal designed to ensure smooth operation and prevent water leaks. The bearings allow the tub to spin freely and quietly, while the seal protects the bearings from water and detergent, extending their life and the overall efficiency of the washing machine.

Causes of failure for these components can vary but often include water infiltration that leads to rust and deterioration of the bearings, or wear and tear from heavy or unbalanced loads that put additional stress on the seal and bearings.

Symptoms of a bad bearing and tub seal kit include:

  • Noisy operation, especially during the spin cycle
  • Water leaking from the bottom of the washer
  • The washing machine tub struggling to spin or not spinning at all

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

David D for Model Number MVWB850YW1

In your video at 20:05, you mention that it is important to not tighten too much or it may generate an error code. Admittedly, I purchased a cheap knockoff kick about 5 months ago and last week the washer was getting noisy again and finally threw an F51 code. Upon inspection, turning the shaft was somewhat difficult a very squeeky. I did what I should have done in the first place and ordered this kit form you guys...I've ordered form you guys periodically over the years now... Anyway, the kit arrived today (quick! Thank you) and I began tearing out the squeeky shaft and bearings. I noticed that with the bottom nut, it was noisy, but when I removed the nut and turned the shaft, it was easy and silent. I went ahead and removed the knockoff kit anyway because I want to use your kit...never had a problem with any of my other purchases from you guys. Anyway, when I go to tighten that nut on the new shaft...how tight? Because maybe I tightened down the previous one too much and created binding? Little more than hand tight? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks again.

David, When putting the nut on you will tighten it down to snug which would be have it bottom out then a slight turn to snug it.

Hello Bri, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. The bearings on this unit are not individually serviceable, to replace the bearings you will need the gearcase [W11454372]. If you decide to replace the gearcase I would recommend also replacing the tub seal [W10324647] and examining the drive hub kit [W10528947] and replacing it if it is worn.
