Steven for Model Number KEBC208KSS02

Good morning, I have a self cleaning double oven. There are two cooling fans. Im not referring to the convection fans. Which fans operate when only one oven is selected? Is the top fan always on no matter which oven is on? My oven has for years and years sounded like a deisel locomotive ideling on the siding. The upper oven is used four times as much as the lower. Can i remove the oven and remove the two back covers and operate the oven to see which one is making the noise. Is there another electrical component besides the fans which could be making the noise...eg transformer?

1 Answer

Steven, the upper blower WP4455334 operates at a low speed during any cooking cycle to ensure that the oven control has airflow to prevent excessive heat build-up. The oven can be moved to observe where the noise could be originating from specifically. However, it would be recommended that the fans are inspected for any debris that could be causing this noise.

Hello DJ, replacing the cooling fan should not have disabled the cooling fans if wired correctly. If you would repost your question with the model's model number we can then locate the tech information to trace the circuit. Also please note why the fan was replaced originally. There is no reset.

I have a Whirlpool Gold wall oven/microwave combo. When I begin preheating the oven the blower fan is supposed to kick on and stay on until the oven is cooled off after I have finished baking. Our blower fan doesn't come on right away. There is a funny noise that could be the fan trying to work, but the fan doesn't kick in and sound normal until usually around or just after the oven is completely preheated. I am wondering if you think the blower needs to be replaced or maybe it is a temperature sensor malfunction? Thank you for your help!

1 Answer

Darcy, Normally there will be a limiter on the unit that will close and allow power to the fan. This limiter could be faulty but it sounds like the cooling blower would be the issue.

Hello Glenn, The manufacturers' parts list is not really clear on which fan motor goes where but I think the WP4455334 is for the top oven and the WPW10016550 is for the lower oven.

Graham, Yes, the outer door glass part number WP9759641 is the correct replacement listed for your model RBS305PDB6. To change the glass in an oven door, you will need to determine how to remove the door on the model number you are working on. If you open the door to the first stopping point, some oven doors will lift off the unit in this position. On other models, you will see clips on the back of the hinge toward the opening where the hinge enters the range. If yours is like this, you will open the door all the way open, then pull the clips down until they stop and lock in place. Then close the door to the stopping point and lift the door off the range. If your door does not lift off, and it does not have the clips, then you will open the door all the way open. You will see a hole in the hinge at the bottom of the door. You will insert a pin or nail into that hole and close the door to the stopping point. Then you can lift the door off the unit. Once the door is removed, you will lay it on a soft surface and disassemble the door. Pay attention and make notes if needed for reassembly of the oven door. Once you have replaced the door glass, you will reinstall the oven door back onto the range in reverse order of the way you removed it.

Lisa, You'll need to remove the oven from the wall. Disconnect the electrical power to the oven. Remove the side trim from the oven. Remove the four double oven cabinet mounting screws (2 on each side), and pull the oven out of its mounting location so that you can access the back. Remove the upper rear cover from the oven (11 screws). Remove the four screws from the blower cover and remove the cover. Disconnect the two wires from the upper blower motor terminals. Remove the four mounting screws. Reverse the procedure and test the oven and fan for operation.
