Mike June 19, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS04 My Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS04 has a bad jazz board (part number 12784415) that needs replacement (verified by a technician). The refrigerator temperature control module looks exactly like the top half of the exploded parts diagram shown on your web page for this part. I would like to order and replace this part myself, but I have 2 critical questions...(1) how do you pull down the temperature control/light module without breaking it? I've successfully removed the light cover (simple enough), but I don't see any screws...when I begin to pull the temperature module downward, there is a lot of resistance and I'm afraid of breaking one or more of the mounting tabs if I try to force it...what's the trick for correctly removing and reinstalling the temp control/light module so that I can access the jazz board? (2) does this replacement jazz board need any 'field programming' prior to use in the Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS04, or can it be plugged in and used as it comes out of the box? Thanks in advance for your help.
1 Answer Mike, To answer your first question, when you look at the back part of the control you will see 2 slots. Push a flat blade screwdriver into the slots and this will release and drop down the panel. Very easy replacement. There will be programming needed once you get the board installed. If you remove the kickplate on the unit, under the right side there will be a tech sheet. The tech sheet will have programming instructions on it. Read More...
Kathleen June 17, 2014 for Model Number maytag refrig We just got the electronic control W10503278 and we need a code.
Daniel June 12, 2014 for Model Number gx5fhtxvy03 I ran the programming mode test on my jazz board and it came up correctly like on the label as software #12. I then put the jazz board into service test mode and it's supposed to display the software version for 3 seconds but it displays the number 14. Does that mean for sure the board is bad?
1 Answer Hello Daniel, 14 is the software version, not the program code, (which you said was 12 on the nits' I.D. tag). If this is the only problem noted, there is most likely no problem with the unit. The unit should be allowed to run for 24 hours and assessed at that time for normal operation. Read More...

To set the desired Program Code number press the Freezer and Refrigerator UP keys. The corresponding digit will be advanced with each key press. 7. Once the desired Program Code is displayed, press the Freezer DOWN Key until the Program Code begins flashing indicating it has been saved. Note: If you attempt to enter an invalid Program Code the control will not save the new code, but will flash the old code and this will be displayed. Bill May 14, 2014 for Model Number ABB2524DEW I have an Amana ABB2524DEW that just stopped cooling. The power is on but no cooling. The temperature settings just read as dashes (-) and I can't increase or decrease them. I tried reprogramming the code (10) but it doesn't stay when I close the refrigerator. W10503278 is the control for this refrigerator. Does this seem like a faulty control or could it be the compressor or something else?
Ruffy M May 13, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool EB9SHKXVQ02 Refrigerator side is too cold freezing up fruits setting is only at #4. Is there a temperature sensor on this side? Freezer side looks okay.
1 Answer Hello Ruffy, You need to check and see if the damper assembly WPW10196393 is broken on the unit. If it is good, then the thermistor 12002355 will need to be replaced. Read More...
Glide May 04, 2014 for Model Number EB9SHKXVQ03 I have a Whirlpool refrigerator freezer on bottom and refrigerator on top. The evaporator coil is freezing up causing the refrigerator compartment to warm up. I replaced the thermostat and it did not solve the problem. The evap coil is still freezing up. I suspect the unit is not defrosting due to a faulty defrost timer. Can you help me locate the defrost timer on this model. It is typically in the refrigerator compartment up a the top near the electronic control board. However, the timer is not located here or under the lower unit. Can you provide some help as to the location? Thanks
1 Answer Glide, The unit does not have a defrost timer in it but incorporates a adaptive defrost control. The defrost control is part of the control board in the refrigerator compartment and is part number WPW10503278. Read More...
Branden May 01, 2014 for Model Number GX5SHDXVQO2 I have a whirlpool refrigerator.2 door on top and freezer on bottom. I do not have hooked up or use the ice maker. I have defrosted it cause the top fridge does not get below 45 degrees. Yet the freezer is just fine. I was wondering what could be the problem? This is only about 3 to 4 years old. Thank you in advance.
1 Answer Branden, If you did not find a defrost issue in the freezer compartment, the more likely issue is the "auto damper" WPW10196393 located in the back wall of the refrigerator compartment. If or when the thermistor reaches the temp. cut in temperature it transmits the data to the control board and the control board supplies the circuit and power to open the door in the damper to allow cold air to enter. If the switch motor or door get stuck, there's no air to the refrigerator compartment and the compartment warms up. Of course you need to do the basic checks first, doors close and seal, compartment light goes out when the door is closed, and the shelves and vents are not blocked or overloaded. Read More...
