The Drive Clutch Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. As an integral transmission component, it includes the clutch that engages the drive motor to rotate the central agitator or impeller.

Causes of a bad clutch kit include worn parts that have aged from repeated use. Signs include slipping, grinding, or clicking noises from the transmission area.

Symptoms of a faulty clutch kit are:

  • The washer tub failing to turn or agitate clothes during wash cycles
  • Delayed starts or intermittent rotation
  • Vibration or shaking sensed from the frontloader or toploader

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Wpark. In order to save a repeat call, the technician should always replace the Splutch Pulley, Pulley Nut, and Drive Belt. The technician should also inspect the teeth on the splutch assembly for wear/damage and belt guard for damage, and replace if necessary. It is not necessary to replace the entire gear case assembly. Order replacement parts by model number. Apply a coating of medium strength thread lock to the threads on the shaft as well.
