Troy November 12, 2012 for Model Number GHW9100LW1 Unit powers up and runs. When the drum get's clothes/weight in it it has trouble turning. Have the back cover off and the belt is not slipping, it's almost like the motor no longer has the power to turn heavier loads. Ran the self diagnostics on the unit and there were no error codes. Any thoughts? Replaced the belt less than two months ago and unit does the same thing. Could it be the MCU or the motor itself? I don't get any error codes, the time left on the cycle just starts blinking.
1 Answer Hello Troy, You should check your motor winding for resistance. Disconnect harness on motor and using multi-meter go from pin 1 to pin 2, pin 1 to pin 3 and pin 1 to pin 4. On each one of these you should read 6 ohms. If you are not getting 6 ohms then you have bad motor WP8182793. If you are getting 6 ohms at each then you have a bad MCU W10756692. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Tim. Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. 4. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle. 6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. 7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations. 8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors. Read More...
Lorenzo T. October 18, 2012 for Model Number 11045081402 I have a whirlpool duet washer machine. It starts to work but F06 starts to flashing so what is that? I hope you guys can help me. Thanks
1 Answer Hi. The F6 error code on your unit indicates a communication error between the MCU W10756692 on the base of the washer cabinet and the CCU W10756692 attached to the top of the cabinet, under the top panel. Check and make sure there are no loose wire connections between the motor and MCU and the MCU and the CCU. The issue is most likely in the MCU, but when you remove the the lower front access panel you'll find the Tech Data Information Sheet, and can conduct the diagnostic and motor tests to verify. Ag October 15, 2012 for Model Number 11045872400 Washer stops half way through cycle F6 error code flashes. Tried unplug washer, still does same thing.
1 Answer Hi. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. It will be advantageous to find the supplied tech sheet inside the cabinet to aid you in the diagnosis. It allows you to put the unit in a diagnostic mode which brings up fault codes and tells you which circuit needs assistance. Thank You. Read More...
Rick October 10, 2012 for Model Number ghw9300pw4 Getting an f 06 error. Tightening the connectors on the MCU helped for a while but now drum will either not start or stop as it transitions into a faster speed. Verified the following from the connector to the MCU - the motor windings all have 6-7 ohms resistance and the tachometer has ~160 ohms resistinace. When spinning by hand - the tach has ~ 100 hz/rev/second pulses at ~50% duty cycle. Is this enough to verify that the harness and motor are OK and an MCU is needed? Thanks!
1 Answer Rick, You may want to check for 5 VDC at connector on thew CCU, across M13 pin 3 and M13 pin 1, while the motor is trying to spin. If you have the voltage, then you'll need the CCU. If no DCV is present you'll need to check the M13 harness and or replace the MCU. Read More...
Rob October 08, 2012 for Model Number ghw9150pw4 I have a whirlpool duet front loader that just isnt getting power. Theres no error codes or anything just flat out no power I checked everything on my end and its fine. Could this be the ccu?
1 Answer Hello Rob. Check for power to the CCU. If it is there, and nothing works, replace the CCU on the unit. Read More...
David W October 02, 2012 for Model Number whirlpol duet sport front load Door won't open...could it be motor control unit and where is it located? Is there a way to open manually to get clothes out?
1 Answer Hello David. Access the bottom of the door lock assembly, either through the top or, toe panel if there is one on your model. Then pull the tab at the bottom of the lock assembly. As for the unit not unlocking, you need to find out what caused the issue with the unit. Either a bad door lock assembly or a bad board. Make sure the unit is not over filling, and is draining properly as well. Then replace the part needed if any is needed. Make sure all wire connections are good and tight. If not, this can cause the issue as well. Read More...
Paul September 25, 2012 for Model Number whirlpool duet sport washer machine My washing machine starts then shuts off. Fault code f28 appears. I changed the door latch mechanism and it worked for a week now f28 shows.
1 Answer Hello Paul, Here's what the service manual has to say about the F-28 fault code: F-28 Fault Code Whirlpool Duet Sport SERIAL COMMUNICATION ERROR The communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Possible Causes/Procedure 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). – Check connections of the CCU board within the housing. – Make sure all grounding switches are engaged.
Gary August 26, 2012 for Model Number Duet purchased new in 2004 I looked all over the machine bur could not find a model number. The instruction booket didn't have a model number on it either only a place to write it in on the last page. I took the off and there were a bunch of numbers on the MCU but I don't think any of them are the model. Anyway, about a month ago the DL light would flash and the door wouldn't lock. A guy cam out and replaced the door latching mechanism to the tune of $200. He said if it happened again he would have to replace the MCU. Does that sound right to you? Is there something else I can do? I found puching the connectors on the board or wigging the board something causes the door to lock but I don't know if that really had an impact or just chance.
1 Answer Hello Gary. No, if the door is not locking properly and the wires can be moved and it work, it sounds like the harness is bad and not the control board. You need to replace the wiring harness on the unit. Read More...
Lee R August 25, 2012 for Model Number GHW9150PW0 During the spin cycle it is very noisy--a whurring sound--tub seems to hesitate slightly?? but will finish its cycle. Any suggestions as to what may be happening. Thanks Lee Rein
1 Answer Hello Lee. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the bearings are bad and you will need to replace the outer tub assembly W10772617 on the unit. Read More...
