This motor control board is created for use with washing machines. It's located inside the washing machine, where users can change settings and start or stop the appliance. It is tasked with regulating how quickly the washer spins during a cycle. Wear and tear or damage can cause the motor control board to malfunction. This may make it impossible for the washer to agitate or spin. If this happens, a replacement will need to be made.To replace this part, start by unplugging the appliance. Once the area is safe, the bottom front panel should be removed. This will provide access to the original motor control board. Pull on the motor control board until the wires can be reached. The position of these components should be noted before taking out the part. Replace with a new motor control board and replace the wires. This motor control board is designed to fit washing machines made by Maytag, Whirlpool, Kenmore, and KitchenAid. This is an authentic OEM replacement part that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. It's sold as a single part.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Control Board (Part Number: OEM17869179)

Cody, Would it happen to be the M13 connector ? this would be the wire harness that transmits the MCU information to the CCU. You don't want to be solderring connectors or pins on a circuit board, unless you're really experienced and good at it. What you may want to do is check the harness for frayed wires or loose connector pins, check each wire for a "closed" circuit, then replace the CCU WP8182689 or harness WP8182212. Thanks

Hello Richard, F11 is: Serial Communication Error Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Check for: Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU) Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components Check MCU Check CCU Check Motor Check Wire Harness If all the connections look fine , then it’s possible the CCU is reading wrong and will need to be changed I have found that in the instance of a F-11, it can sometimes be corrected by simply unplugging and reconnecting the connectors one at a time. Many times though, the control board has an issue with either the relays on the board or the solder joints.

Mary B for Model Number Whirlpool Duet sport front load washer, about 4years old, bought new.

Washer worked fine with previous brief episode of error F7, resolved. After a move, found new problem with first attempt to use washer. Received error code F28 at beginning of last Spin/rinse cycle and machine stops. This is in every setting except spin/drain setting; during this setting, the timer advances ok..no error code, but it won't spin. I do believe I hear the pump attempting to work. Technician came out, cleaned out the drain, checked voltage on CCU and CMU, reset machine and watched it run through filling, spinning, draining....did not realize at that time, code wasn't coming on till last spin and drain. thought it was ok. He now believes it is "probably" the CMU. Expensive fix, any advice or suggestions?

Mary, The F28 error, usually indicates an issue in the MCU. " F 28 = Serial communication Error". Did the servicer check for possible loose connections in the harnesses ? and that the door latch assembly worked correctly. If there aren't any loose connections, and the washer wasn't damaged during the move, Then you'll want to start at the MCU. Good Luck and Thanks

Hi Robert. The control board part # W10756692 is for your model #. F/06 Drive Motor Tachometer Error. The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during high-speed spin the door will be unlocked after 3 minutes. Potential Causes • Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor/Tachometer and the Motor ControlUnit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU) • Check the Drive Motor • Check the MCU • Check the Wire Harness. Motor part # WP8182793. The tach circuit is included with the motor assy. Thank You.

Hello Sherry. Unplug washer or disconnect power. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. Plug in washer or reconnect power. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. Check the drive motor for powered rotations. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors. Replace the MCU W10756692 if the motor is good. Hope this heps.

Hi James. If you are getting 120 vac through the noise filter part # WPW10367632, it feeds the main control board part # WP8182222. One way to tell is to smell the parts or you can visually see burnt connections. Inside the cabinet is a folded up tech. sheet that will assist. you in the field service test and the wiring diagram. It also may be that the door latch part # WP8182634 is not closing all the way and allowing the wash cycle to start. The codes will tell you @ which circuit and components are effected. The volt / ohm meter part # MA-DM1 will aid you in all of this. Thank You.

Devin D. for Model Number GHW9150PW1

Our Whirlpool Washer began making noise and we noticed it was not turning. Thinking it might be the rubber belt I took it off. Belt looked fine so I Spun the tub, smooth as butter. Went to spin the motor and the pulley was striped out on the motor shaft. The splines on the pulley are stripped, motor shaft splines look fine. Can I order a new pulley and tap it on the motor shaft? How about just welding the pulley on to the motor shaft? The motor appears to be in very good shape. It would be a shame to buy a motor just for the pulley.

1 Answer

Hello Devin. No, if the pulley has come off the motor, you will need to order and replace the motor WP8182793 in the unit. If you weld it, it will be off balance. Hope this helps.
