Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Main Control Board (Part Number: OEM18082275)

John, You will want to check to see if there is power coming from the main board on connector J6 pin 2 to Pin 1 Ground. There should be 12 VDC at this point. If there is power at this point but the display is not working then this would be an issue of a faulty display board. Also, check the hinge at the top of the door to make sure that there is no damage to the wiring at this point as this could also cause the issue.

Hello Jessie, Most of the time the problem you are encountering is either because of waiting too long between keystrokes or simply a misinterpretation of the keys to be pressed. The tech sheet says to do it this way, and it cannot be done any other way if it is to work properly: Programming Mode: NOTE: The Program Code is located on the Serial Plate on this unit after the word Code. 1. Press and hold the Door Alarm Keypad DoorAlarm. 2. Press and hold Freezer Temperature Down Keypad. 3. Release the Door Alarm Keypad DoorAlarm and wait 3 seconds. 4. The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode. 5. Entry is confirmed by pressing the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad once more. 6. The control will display the current Program CODE. This value should be validated with the Program CODE printed on the unit serial plate. NOTE: If the Program CODE is correct, the Programming Mode is exited by pressing Door Alarm Keypad for 3 seconds. 7. Press the Refrigerator Temperature UP Keypad or Refrigerator Down Keypad to change the digit value with each keypress. 8. The decimal point indicates the selected digit. Press the Freezer Temperature UP Keypad to select the next digit. 9. Once the desired Program CODE is entered, press and hold the Freezer Temperature DOWN Keypad until the Program CODE begins flashing indicating it has been saved. NOTE: If you attempt to enter an invalid Program CODE the control will not save the new code, but will beep. (The unit will NOT run with a Program CODE of 0000).Once the Program CODE has been saved the Programming Mode is exited by pressing any key. If the new code is incorrect this process should be repeated. The Programming mode can be exited at any time by pressing the Door Alarm key for 3 seconds or will exit if unattended for four minutes.

Hello Mark, you can check the wiring connection/harness under the left side fresh food door top hinge cover, if all ok then this condition indicates the rear main control board has had an internal failure. The part number is WPW10312695. Once the board is replaced it will need to be programmed with the code number listed on the model/serial tag in the fresh food section on the liner wall. The program steps are on the technical data sheet that came with this model, it is usually located under/behind the front kickplate.

Dan for Model Number AFI2538AEW

I have a Ammna/Maytag refrigerator that seems to have a properly working compressor. The freezer is cooling properly but the upper, refrigerator section is staying warm. The outside door water dispenser does not provide water, nor does the ice dispenser attempt to work. I have tried to cycle the machine by unplugging the unit, letting it sit for several hours and plugging it back in; more than once. This does not solve the problem. The unit has been cleaned and re-cleaned for dust and dirt.

Dan, Check the inside of the left refrigerator door for a dent in the liner where it would touch the light switch. Usually, this is right beside the ice chute. If the light switch does not close your water and ice dispenser will not work. Also, there is a damper door behind the ice maker that opens and lets cold air into the refrigerator section. You will see a vent in the top left corner that you can place your hand over and see if you feel the air. Make sure fans are running in the freezer and there's no ice build up on evaporator blocking air flow to the refrigerator.

Brian, Recheck and make sure you have the correct part installed W10890094 / W10890094 Cntrl-Elec.(the 14 and 19 should be a revision number). Check and make sure there aren't any loose connections and the pins on the control board. Tug on the wires in the connectors to make sure they don't pull out. Then check the connections at the left door top hinge. then program the board,

Todd, For this you will want to test to see if the water valve is getting 120 vac to it when the lever is depressed. If there is power but not dispensing then check for a filter head issue or a frozen fill tube. If there is not power then the dispenser control board would be the most likely cause for this problem.
