Doug for Model Number Kenmore 59676593602

My Kenmore 59676593602 temperature display will show -31 for the freezer and 50 for the refrigerator; however, neither are cold enough - the freezer setting I use is 0, and the refrigerator setting I use is 38 (as recommended). I can get normal readouts (and cooling for both compartments) if, after malfunctioning, I turn it off for 24 hours, unplug it, and then turn back on. It will work fine for a week or two, and then give then repeat the warming/faulty readouts. I have thought maybe replacing part number W10207861 would be a fix. Any additional thoughts?

Hello Doug. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the board WPW10207861 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. You need to check and make sure the compressor is not clicking when it is faulting.

Hello Rtroth, If the compressor is drawing more than 20 amps, if you have changed the compressor, The sealed system has a restriction. Most of the time this will occur at the heat exchange assembly or the evaporator coil. The best way to check for this is by recovering the freon from the system and blow nitrogen through the individual coils and tubes. This can easily be accomplished with a process tube adaptor kit. This of course should be done by a freon certified technician because of the freon handling laws.

Juan P. for Model Number MFD2561HES

I had the Control board replaced numerous times under extended warranty over the last 7 years. The new boards always end up failing and I lose all function control of temperature, door alarm etc. Curently out of warranty and needing to replace the board again. Why do these boards keep failing? I can replace myself easily, but for 178 per board I would like more assurance it will last more than a few weeks. Reminds me of the magnetron on my GE built in microwave that died every 6 months for 5 years until GE offered us a discount on a new unit.

Hello Juan, The quality and design of the machine was entirely the responsibility of the manufacturer and as far as telling you why a specific electronic board on your unit keeps failing, I would either have to be a fortune teller or a liar. The fact is, if it is man made, it is prone to failure. The more complicated the design of the circuit, the higher the likelihood of a failure. I know I haven't been much help up until now, but I can make you a promise. If you order a part from us and it fails in the first 365 days, (one full year from the date of order), we will replace the part without a charge for the part. The only fee due would be the shipping. And yes, this does include ANY part you order from us, even electronic parts. You also have a full year to return any part you don't want, even if it has been installed. So you see, there isn't a lot of chance on your part in doing business with us.

Hello mauimarkmemark. Make sure the freezer is at 0° and the fill tube is not frozen. If there is water coming to the unit, correct temperature, fill tube not frozen and water valve is new, and still not any ice. Replace the icemaker in the unit.

Gladys for Model Number MFD2561KES

My fruits and vegetales start to freeze if, they are in the drawers....... By your experience, the Technician said I need to change this part of the Refrigerator but didn't give the part number, so do you think it can be this User Control and Display Board? It also doesn't work either if I want to move the temperature up or down (on the digital display). It's just working direct. Lights are on but doesn't move at all, unless I open the refrigerator and leave it open, it starts to move down the temperature. I have a picture in case you want to see the lights on (Freezer -3 and Refrigerator 44) One red light from the digital display is on.........

Gladys, You may have two issues, the frozen vegetables, could be due to an air flow problem, remove the crisper pans and check the air return tunnels in the rear corners of the fridge floor for debris, blockage or ice in the openings, check and make sure the bottom of the door seals are sealing to the front flange when the doors are closed. If you cannot manually adjust the temperatures then you will need the control board WPW10207861. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Mike! No, there does not seem to be a video available on how to install the electronic control WPW10207861. However, here are some instructions I have located: Remove the light shield by sliding shield to rear to release the cover. Depress with a screw driver through two slots in the front of the light housing to release the control board housing. The control board housing will drop down to expose the control board. Remove the wiring to the control board. Release the tabs holding the control board to the housing. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps!
