For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18054999)

Kenny W. for Model Number NFW7200TW

My washer is getting the "nd" error code. I took apart the hoses before and after the drain pump but neither were clogged. In the service mode, the pump drain will only come on about 1 in every 10 attempts. I tested the voltage coming from CN10 (Pin 6) and it when it sends 120v the pump motor DOES run. But that only happens about 1 in every 10 attempts also. The other attempts it spikes voltage for about 1 second and then returns to about 2 volts (the normal voltage while the pump is off). So the pump does appear to run when the votage is present. It seems to point to the control board but I notice that it looks like the pump motor is filled with water. Shouldn't the impeller have a seal behind it? Do you think it is the control board or pump motor? Or possibly both?

Hello Kenny. The seal has gone bad in the pump and shorted the control. It sounds like the pump and control will need to be replaced.

My washer runs, but gets a ND in the display after it spins and sits for about 15 minutes. First I checked the pump for debris and the armature ohms is 14 ohms. I then placed the machine in service mode and then went to the output test. When turning on the specific output for the pump the pump only started maybe 1 in 20 attempts. I am pretty certain that it is the relay on the control board. I just want to verify this before I order a 300 dollar part. When using the output test the control does not look at any inputs such as the water level sensor does it? I also had my meter on CN10-6(the black wire) and had 125vac until the pump actually started. I believe that also leads me to a bad control board. Please confirm or advise on further tests needed to find the defective part. Thanks

Hi. ND - The water level fails to drop below the Low Water level reset within 15 minutes, before a spin begins. If the pump receives the voltage and just hums then replace the pump. The control board and the wires are OK. Pump motor bearings or the stator magnets have an issue dragging the pump. The pump impeller seal has internally leaked and logged the motor and shorted it. Make sure that you do not have suds inside the drum. Fill/drain in cold over and over if need be and the pump allows if need be. Pump part # WPW10175948. Thank You.

Hello Laviolette. Check and make sure the door lock assembly WP8182634 is good on the unit. If it is bad, it will cause the issues you are having with the unit.

Hello Cheke. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like there is a dead short in the unit shorting out the control board WPW10273828. You will need to locate the short and repair the wire or part that is bad in the unit. These can be very hard to find and determine the issue. I would start with the dispenser, valve and motor. Also, the lock assembly and wiring harness.

Hi William. A few things come to mind as you have this issue ? Is the door staying locked during this pause mode ? Either go through the back cover-or- by removing the top, console and the front panel all in effort to go to the pump. If the pump is clogged then the control board will see a non pump signal from the pressure switch to allow the spin. Then it will shut down after a period of time. Make sure the tub to pump hose is clear. Inside the cabinet top in a folded packet is a supplied tech sheet to use. Put this in a field service mode to get the unit to check all components and send a fault code on the circuit in need of repair. The pump is part # WP34001340. Also make sure the fill hose inlet valve screens are clear to allow the proper fill time. Thank You.

Hello Jeff. Hopefully it just got the board WPW10273828, but there is no way of telling without testing the unit, and the control will need to be replaced to do this. Hope this helps.
