The Defrost Control Board is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This circuit board coordinates defrost heating cycles to remove built-up frost from evaporator coils.

Hello Ray, If the unit has a cumalative defrost system, it will vary as to how often and how long the defrost cycle takes place. It is also changed by how often the unit doors are opened and how long they are kept open.

Rick, With both the ice and water not working on the unit, you will want to check the wire harness at the top of the door to make sure that there are no broken or loose wires. You will also want to check to make sure that the dispenser is not in the locked position.

Hello Pete, It sounds as though the unit is not in a climate controlled atmosphere. Refrigerators are designed to operate at their most efficient level when in a climate that is from 70° to 75°F. If the hot coils are in a hot atmosphere, they cannot dissipate the heat removed from the unit back into the room. This adversely affects the temperature of the interior of the unit.
