For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18048036)

Vi, For this issue with the power outage and only being able to get the unit to show 8's when pressing display then this would most likely be a faulty main control board.

Kristine B. for Model Number GI5FSAXVY02

All the control panel lights were turning on when I pressed anything. When I tried to dispense water, the lights flashed also. In viewing youtube videos, I determined that it was probably the high voltage control panel. I just replaced it, and the refrigerator turned on. I checked the digital panel on the front, and it's now not working properly. I can't select anything by pressing the buttons. If I press the up/down on the right, it toggles between water and Ice. So I can get water? However, I'm not sure the refrigerator is cooling or the freezer freezing because I can't set any temperatures. The left panel displays PE2 and won't change. I'm thinking this digital panel circuit board also needs replacing now.

Hello Kristine, You should first verify there are no wiring harness issues at the door hinge. Also, the PE2 is the first three characters of the programming code. The correct programming code is located on the units' I.D. tag and has to be programmed properly into the control once the control has been changed. It sounds like this has not been done. Once programmed, the unit should operate properly. If not, post a new question and we will be happy to assist you further.

Chris, Unfortunately No. All the lights in your refrigerator are LED lights and have a preset intensity, due to the type of light/LED. You may want to check the wire harness at the top of the left door to make sure there are no loose connections, check to make sure the clear plastic protective cover was removed when the unit was installed, and on a lot of occasions the dimness could be due to the location of the refrigerator and the sun light reaching the front of the refrigerator.

Serena, You will want to look at the dispenser and see if there the lock on the dispenser is active. This would be the most likely cause for the issue with the dispenser beeping when the lever is pushing.

My 2010 Whirpool Gold GI5SVAXVL01 refrigerator hasn't given us any problems in 7 years, so I know we are lucky. Today, the front panel began flashing, and as it did, the fan or compressor sounded like it was trying to power up. It finally died, and my husband tried researching the issue which SEEMS to be the control panel, WPW10162500...which we couldn't find anywhere. So, I called a repairmen who can't come til Wednesday, and prepared to put my food items into our 2nd fridge in the garage. Well, lo and behold, 4 after declaring it dead, the fridge is fine. Things do not just fix themselves. How, what, when, where...a poltergeist? How can I order or have the control panel repaired to avoid this happening again, and how can I be sure it is that and not the main panel in the back? I swear to Mozambique I will pull my second fridge, a 30-year-old avocado green monstrosity that is "strong like bear" out and put that sucker in my stainless steel modern kitchen before I give Whirlpool a dime. HELP!

Beatriz, You will want to check the wiring at the top hinge to make sure that there are no loose or damaged connections. This sounds like what would be causing the issue. If there is no damage then this will most likely be an issue with the main control board.
