Dave March 14, 2021 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY Silly question, but is the automatic light sensor itself located on the dispenser control board(W10162500) or on the touch membrane(W10164138)? I have always left this light on the dispenser on auto since day one, but just recently on auto, it stays on. I can shut it off an on manual, but in auto, it just stays on. It's not a huge deal, just wondering.

Lawrence November 21, 2020 for Model Number GI5FVAXVL01 While filling a pitcher with water, the lockout automatically engaged. I tried holding down the lockout button and resetting the unit. Neither one worked. Where do I go from here?
1 Answer Lawrence, it sounds like the keypad could be shorted and unable to accept commands, in that case, you would need to replace the keypad or switch membrane, there are several colors available. Here is the part in black W10860143 Read More...
Ken July 29, 2020 for Model Number GI5SVAXVL01 Hi, so my display was blank, but interior lights were still on with no cooling. Fans weren't blowing either. After some research it appeared to be the high voltage control board. Ordered and replaced. Lights came on and needed programmed. Code on inside of fridge is 1617. Set code and fans kicked on. Now I get water and it appears to be running. However, it isn't actually cooling. I can't hear the compressor kick on. I hear a click from time to time, but ultimately no cooling. Any ideas? Thanks!
1 Answer Ken, that click you hear is the clue you want to follow. I'm figuring that the click is coming from the compressor area in the back of the fridge. If you track it down to there that means either your compressor failed or the overload relay has failed. Ohm out you compressor windings, any shorts or opens, replace the compressor part number W10160407. If it is okay replace the start device WPW10197428 and the capacitor WPW10662129. In my experiences, it is the start device at least 80% of the time. Read More...
Joe October 03, 2019 for Model Number WRX735SDBM03 Control panel does not turn off. Ice and water do not dispense. Makes beeping sound when pads are pressed.
1 Answer Joe, Check to make sure that the lock light on the dispenser is not lit as this would be the control lockout and will cause the issue you are having. If it is not on then it sounds like the dispenser control will be the issue with the unit. Read More...
Robert August 18, 2019 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY00 I’ve replaced the Control board, part W10740218. The frig still will not dispense water or ice and the board appears to be functioning. The ice make is making ice. What else could it be? Thank you, Rob
1 Answer Hello Robert, for the left side fresh food door remove the top hinge cover and check all wires are connected, especially the pink/black, next open the left side fresh food door and hold in the light/interlock switch by hand, reach around and press the dispenser for icer and see if the ice dispenses, lastly the tech sheet is included with the refrigerator it is either behind/under the front lower grill or under the top right side fresh food door top hinge cover, and run the test mode and run test 171 for the dispenser actuator pad. Brent July 02, 2019 for Model Number GI5FVAXVL01 The front display has started intermittently going blank with no response from any of the touch buttons. Sometimes, a few times a day, other times days apart. Unplugging the 4 pin power connector on the back of the display board will return everything to proper working order until the next failure. Is the problem the main control board, or the display board? Thanks in advance!!
1 Answer Brent, There are a couple of things to check before you replace the parts. Make sure the outlet is a grounded, polarized 120 vac 20 amp outlet and is a dedicated non-GFI power supply. Remove the top left door hinge cover and check for any loose wire connections or damaged wires. Remove the dispenser front control panel/facade and check the wiring at the low voltage control board. Remove the cover on the back of the refrigerator and check for loose connections at the high voltage control board. If all's OK, replace the WPW10310240 / WPW10310240 High Voltage Control Board on the back of the refrigerator. Read More...

1 Answer Alison,to reset the control board disconnect the refrigerator from the electrical outlet or turn off the circuit breaker to refrigerator for a minute then back on, if the fans and compressor do not start then problem is most likely in the control board. Read More...
Confused December 30, 2018 for Model Number GI5SVAXVL00 I have no water or ice dispensing even though ice is still being made. All controls on front light up but none are activated by touch. What is the difference between: the High Voltage Control Board listed for $329.89 Part Number: AP6019229 Made by: Genuine Whirlpool part, with the Cross Reference Information as Part Number WPW10310240 (AP6019229) replaces W10310240) and the Electronic Control (Manufacturer Part Number WPW10310240, Manufactured by Whirlpool listed for $485.94) One is shown being installed behind the control panel in front while the other is installed in the back of the refrigerator and both have the same number.
1 Answer Confused, The part number WPW10310240 would be the main control board located in the back of the unit. The dispenser control board would be W10882878. Read More...
Carlos November 27, 2018 for Model Number WRS970CIDM00 So my front display panel went blank and cannot dispense water or ice. I checked for loose connections behind panel. Found a common issue of a faulty door light switch turning off display. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Carlos, Check for a loose connection at the wire harness at the bottom of the door and if this checks ok and the light switch is good then this would be a faulty dispenser control board. Read More...
