Tom May 27, 2011 for Model Number JENN-AIR JCD2389DEW REF - SXS/I&W My fridge is running and there is a slight ice build up in the back of the freezer section. However both sections are not cold, the regular fridge side is warmer than the freezer. I believe this (defrost control board) is my issue. Please advise, Tom.

It could be one of the three parts; Defrost Board 61005988 Defrost Thermostat or Defrost Heater WP61006199 (on your model they are considered an assembly). You can test the parts with a multimeter MA-DM1 to see which is defective. Here is a link from our free repair forum you can refer to for help with using a multi meter. Marsha March 12, 2011 We just paid $110.00 for this part from a repairman and I was wondering about the price difference.......how can it be twice the price. In addition, we paid $55 for labor and I was wondering if we could have done this ourselves and saved alot of money. But how would I know it is the adaptive defrost that had gone bad. How much does the multi-meter cost?
1 Answer Hello Marsha, we take pride being able to provide parts to our consumers at a competitive price. You will have to understand why we are unable to answer the question about the price difference. Regarding the installation, this is a fairly simple part to install. Remove a few screws where the temp controls are located inside the fridge. Unplug and plug in the new defrost control. You can always refer to our repair forum for test procedures like, http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/17327-maytag-fridge.html . Here is the part number for our multi meter MA-DM1. Hope this helps! Read More...

1 Answer First you remove the control panel cover. Then you will remove the screws holding the light assembly inplace. There is a screw on the back wall that needs to come out as well to get the light assembly to drop down. Once you drop down the light assembly, you will see the board in the back right corner of it. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps. Read More...
