Jkeckert for Model Number MSD2651HEB

1 1/2 weeks ago we had a repairman out to repair a problem with the capacitor. The compressor would not start. He made the repair by adding A HS410 Powerstart relay – Combination Relay, Capacitor, Overload ¼ thru 1/3 HP - replaces RCo410, HS410, & WRX-4. (by Aspen Mfg.Inc.) to the old capacitor. They are wired together. Now 1 ½ weeks later the Adaptive Defrost Board burns out so we ordered a new one, installed it and when plugging the frig. In – it immediately burned out the same as the other one. The refrig. of course does not work. The lights are on and we are able to get filtered water but compressor does not work. I don’t want to try to install another Adaptive Defrost Board until I find out what is wrong to cause it to short out. Can someone help? I have pictures.

Hi Jose. You will need part # 12001991. This is an ice door fountian kit. It comes in part with a chute flapper assembly that you will find is not sealing properly to the chute opening area. If it is open, it will allow warm, humid air to migrate into the freezer. This will cause the auger blades, auger and bin assembly to freeze up. Not allowing proper dispensing of ice. Remember to clean and dry out the complete ice bin every month for ice chip build up. Thank you.

Hello Phil. Check and make sure the temperature control is located in the correct position after replacing the board 61005988. If so, you will want to check and make sure the condenser coils on the unit are clean. If all of this checks out, you may need to replace the temperature control WP61005516. Hope this helps.

Hello Ray, you will need a Multi Meter: TJMA-DMT3 to test both components. The defrost thermostat when it's cold should give you a closed reading. When you go across both wires of the heating element you should get a resistance reading. If both of these are correct, you could have a defective defrost control 61005988. Hope this helps!

Hi Francis. I will need you to please take the rear cover from the back of the unit off. Then see if your condenser fan motor is running. It is the fan right next to the condenser/ compressor area. If It is not running then replace it with part # 833697. The lower half section of your 2-part water valve, is the valve which supplies the water your ice maker. This part # is 61005626. Is your compressor running? The compressor start relay is part # 12002783. The defrost Control board # is 61005988. It usually fails to let your unit go into defrost and your freezer back wall will build up with frost(failed defrost). Thank you . I hope this helps.

Missouri Gentleman for Model Number Maytag MZD2766GE

We have an occasional buzzing in our fridge. I figured out it's in the Control assy., temp. / Part Number: AP4070269 - and have replaced that. Didn't help. It used to buzz for about a minute, now it can go for 10+ (until we unplug the fridge and restart it). It only occurs when the compressor has been running and is then shutting off. I'm wondering about now replacing the Defrost Control Board - or getting a new refrigerator. Any ideas? Thanks for your help! This site is great!

Hello Missouri Gentleman. You will need to check and see if the noise is coming from the defrost control board 61005988. If so, you will need to replace the board. If it is not the board, you will need to check the damper assembly WP61005971, and see if the noise is coming from there. If so, you will need to replace the damper housing assembly. Hope this helps.

Also, check the condenser fan motor WP61005323 and make sure it is running properly. If not, you will need to replace the condenser fan motor. Hope this helps.
