Nicole September 23, 2011 for Model Number RF366PXGQ1 When I turn on the large front left burner it goes directly to high heat even when the dial is on like seeting #2. We just changed the switch and it is still doing this. Are there any elements or wires you suggest under the cooktop that need to be changed to fix this problem?
1 Answer Hello Nicole. Yes, you will need to look for a loose or burnt wire making contact to the ground of the stove. Also, test the element W10823696 and make sure it is not grounded. Hope this helps. Read More...
Calcis B. July 21, 2011 for Model Number MERH865RAS13 The left side cooktop "On Indicator" stays on even after the front left cooktop burner has been turned off and has cooled down, why? Started doing this the other day. Before then it would go out after the cooktop had been turned off for enough time for it to cool off. So is the sensor incorporated in the burner element or is the sensor a separate part?
1 Answer Bill, you're on track. The most likely scenario is a bad sensor on the burner. You can test the sensor circuit with a multi meter. you'd be checking for an open circuit across the 1B and 2B terminals of the sensor assembly(s), when the burner is cool. You will need to check both left side burner sensors, to determine which one has failed, and unfortunately the burner sensor is not a separate component, so you'll need to order the complete burner. Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
Philip C. July 20, 2011 for Model Number RCC3024LB01 My large burner stopped heating up. The light still turns on when I turn the switch on, but the element does not heat up. Do I need a new element or new switch. The other three burners work fine.
1 Answer Hello Philip. You can test across H1 orange/white wire and H2 orange wire with the switch on and see if you have 240 volts AC. If so, you will need to replace the element W10823696. If not, you will need to replace the switch WP4454541. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

It does not have the normal warm up scenario either, it goes straight to High heat and stays there. Is this the surface element or the surface element switch?
