John L. November 23, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool oven RF378LXKQ-1 Front left burner on cooktop seems to stick "on" gets too hot or has poor control from adjustable control knob. On and off is ok just poor thermostatic control. More likely to be burner/ sensor or control knob assembly? Thank you for recommending part. John
Bigelu October 26, 2013 for Model Number 665.95802000 I come every 6 months to condo. I went to make eggs this morning and the burners would not get real hot. Pressed in simmer button and stove top started to get hot. Oven also does not pre heat. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Pete
1 Answer Hello Bigelu, As long as the gas supply is sufficient, this will either be the temperature sensor WP8273340 or the control WP8523665. Read More...
Lilia December 17, 2012 for Model Number GR445LXMS Hi, I need to order right rear burner for model: GR445LXMS. Would you give me the part number?
Marie December 13, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool Electric glasstop Oven Hi ~ I was using my top burner and all of a sudden it just quit working, but the other 3 still work. It is the big one up front. Was thinking it is a heating element, but I see other questions and people are wondering if it is the switch.
1 Answer Hello Marie. Test for power coming from the switch to the element when the switch is on. Be careful as this is live power. If there is power to the element, replace the element. If there is none, replace the switch in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jennifer October 24, 2012 for Model Number MER5755QAQ The large, back, left burner has stopped working on my stove top. Is it the element or the switch that needs replaced? What is the part number I need? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Jennifer, If the infinite switch is passing voltage to the element, the element has failed and will require replacement. If the infinite switch isn't passing voltage to the surface element, the infinite switch has failed. The only way to determine the cause of the issue is by using a voltmeter on the circuit to see which has failed. To test, put the voltmeter on the infinite switch terminals marked H1 and H2. Turn the infinite switch to the on position where the failure was experienced. If you read 240Vac on these two terminals, replace the surface element W10823696. If not, replace the infinite switch WP7403P239-60. Read More...
Mike February 11, 2012 for Model Number RCC3024GB3 My stove was working fine tonight when all of a sudden, all the elements stopped heating. I checked the connection to the electric panel and there is still current running. What do I need to do?
1 Answer Hi Mike. You need to remove the power. Then you need to protect your counter top. Lift the unit up and out, setting it on the counter. Then you need to go into it from the top down to get to the main240 vac wire harness connection. Use a volt/ohm meter part # WB27T10549. It sounds like you lost all power at the connection point. Let us know what you find as we will get the correct part # for you. Thank You. Read More...
Nathan January 21, 2012 for Model Number rcc3024rb05 My stove burner recently stopped working. It was the big burner, and when my wife turned it on, she heard a loud "pop" a couple of times, almost like a minor explosion. In your opinion, would that be related to the heating element, or the switch? I have read on the forum that it could be either one when it goes out.
1 Answer Nathan, Since this is a "cooktop" and based on your post, the more likely issue is the infinite switch WP4454541 it is more likely to get damp or wet, due to spill overs and excess water in the cleaning process, and short out and fail. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Nanna November 02, 2011 for Model Number GY396LXPB00 The large burner on left front does not heat up - how do I know if I need the element or the switch? The oven works and so do the other three burners.
1 Answer Hi Nanna. The element is part # W10823696. The dual infinite switch is part # WP9750641. Use a volt meter to measure the l-2 and h-2 output at low, medium and high settings. The element has ribbon style "windings" which with a flashlight or with the working (small element?) side on, then you can visibly see the opposite burnt ribbon connections. This will quickly tell if the element is open. The Infinite switch will have a visible black burned area on the side of the switch as defective also. Thank You. Read More...
Chris October 25, 2011 for Model Number RF199LXHQ1 Our large surface element stopped working. All other elements are working fine. We found the surface element part number (AP3133018) but am not able to locate the infinite switch number.
1 Answer Hello Chris! The large surface unit infinite switch is part number WP3149400. Thanks! Read More...
Nicole September 23, 2011 for Model Number RF366PXGQ1 What is the ohm supposed to be on the front left burner?
1 Answer Hello Nicole. The left front burner should read closed for continuity, and also test the burner for a ground short. If it is shorted to ground, you will need to replace the element W10823696. The Ohms are 23.5K Ohms. Hope this helps. Read More...
