The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This part is responsible for controlling the flow of water into the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser system. It operates by opening and closing to allow water from the household supply line to enter the refrigerator as needed.

Over time, water inlet valves can fail or become clogged with mineral deposits, especially in areas with hard water.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • No water being dispensed or ice being made
  • A slow or irregular flow of water from the dispenser
  • Unusual noises coming from the valve area during operation
  • Water leaking from the valve or at the connection points

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18049152)

William, based on the information provided, the ice maker WPW10300022 has failed. The ice maker should not go through a continuous harvest cycle over and over again as this indicates a failed motor. This would also prevent the ice maker from sending voltage to the water valve to allow water to reach it.

Schumpert, I believe this unit will run water without the filter. Remove your filter and see if the water fill returns to normal. It sounds to me like a water filter or water filter housing issue.

The water tube adapted for connection to the water supply line is WPW10350007 / W10350007 Tube, Filter Inlet,

Senen, While it is possible that the water valve is faulty you will want to check the main supply to make sure that it is getting water to the unit. If there is then this will either be the valve or the water filter housing that is faulty.

Scott, You will want to cycle the icemaker and check at the water valve to ensure that there is 120 vac to the Valve. If there is power to the valve but not coming to the icemaker then this will be a faulty valve.

Hello Mike, You will need to verify the water pressure that is supplied to the unit since the water valve is closed by water pressure only and has no internal spring to aid in its' closure. If 40 to 90 PSI is present, you will need to change the water valve WPW10179146.

Chance, If you had to turn the water supply off at the faucet, then the fill valve is stuck open. If you had to remove power to the refrigerator to stop the water flow, then the ice maker fill circuit is at fault and you'll need to replace the ice maker. But first check to see that there are no damaged wires or loose faulty connections to the ice maker and the fill valve.

Hello Charly. You will need to check and see if the water valve WPW10179146 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. If it is bad, it will cause the freezing issue and can cause the issue with the dispenser as well. Thanks.
