The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This part is responsible for controlling the flow of water into the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser system. It operates by opening and closing to allow water from the household supply line to enter the refrigerator as needed.

Over time, water inlet valves can fail or become clogged with mineral deposits, especially in areas with hard water.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • No water being dispensed or ice being made
  • A slow or irregular flow of water from the dispenser
  • Unusual noises coming from the valve area during operation
  • Water leaking from the valve or at the connection points

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18049152)

Joseph, Thank you for your question. With the refrigerator working without the filter but not working with the filter in, this will be a faulty filter housing W11162041 that would need to be replaced.

Kendall for Model Number WRS325FDAM04

My water dispenser is running very slowly. It still works, however it is slow stream which takes about 30 seconds to fill an 8 oz cup. I replaced the filter with a factory OEM filter and it didn't help at all. Upon initiating flow, it flows very quickly for less than a second and then slows to a continuous dribble. The ice maker does make ice, though the cubes are a bit smaller than normal. Also, when I remove the water filter from the fridge (bottom), water continues to flow out of the filter housing. I'm not sure if this is normal...I pressed the check valve in several times and it seems to move freely. I believe the issue is either the water inlet valve or the filter housing. Could you provide any help on which is most likely the cause?

Hello W10778312, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com Replace the filter housing W10862461 for your water and ice issues, it should not have water coming out of the housing with the filter removed, that indicates that there is a check valve issue with the filter housing.

Phil, if there is 120VAC at each side of the black wire on the ice maker harness W10838084. If there is voltage on one side but not the other, the harness has failed and would need to be replaced.

Mike, As you cycle the ice maker in test mode check the valve for voltage. Receiving voltage then replace the water valve. No voltage then replace the ice maker.

Al, when the ice maker is in a harvest cycle, the valve WPW10179146 would need to be tested for 120VAC. At the end of the harvest cycle, it should receive 120 Volts for 9 to 12 seconds. If it does, the valve has failed and is not letting water through properly. If not, the icemaker WPW10300022 would be the cause of failure.
