Peggy August 02, 2015 for Model Number Maytag 8114P850-60 This was the # inside the door. Your igniter looks like the one I am needing. My question is the oven and the broiler do not light and I see there is an igniter up top as well. Do I need 2 new igniters or once I replace the oven igniter will the broiler igniter work?
1 Answer Peggy, The model number listed is not valid. Test for 3.2-3.6 vac at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Veej July 16, 2015 for Model Number MGR5770ADW Hello, I have a Maytag MGR5770 gas range. Not sure what are the three letters in the model number for mine. Where do I find the model number anyways? Lately, I have noticed that the oven temperature increases very slowly. Also, smell gas sometimes. What could be the problem? Thanks, Veej
1 Answer Hello Veej. You will need to order and replace the ignitor 12400035 in the oven. As for the model number, here is a link to help you locate it. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx Read More...
Mr June 28, 2015 for Model Number CRG9700CAW According to your website a replacement flat style ignitor part #AP4012072 would fit my Maytag range. It looks like the one pictured except that there is no heat shield tubing on yours. Mine has that shield. My oven is self-cleaning by the way. Is this the right part without the shield to protect it? thanks. MR
1 Answer MR, Yes the igniter 12400035 will work for your unit and you would take the old shield and install it on the new igniter. Read More...
Wayne C. June 20, 2015 The plastic connector on my ignitor has toasted to a crisp, does it matter which wire from the ignitor is connected to the valve. I cant tell which goes where because it is toast.
1 Answer Hello Wayne, This is not a polarized part so it will operate normally connected either way. Swapping the wires will not change the ignitors' operation. Read More...
Darrell May 30, 2015 for Model Number 6257xts Magic chef Oven went off while cooking. Will not start back up. What would I need to check for the cause of this?
1 Answer Darrell, a weak or broken oven igniter 12400035 could cause the oven to stop heating. An igniter issue is the most common reason for gas ovens to have erratic temperatures or no heat. That's a good place to start. Read More...
Sam March 29, 2015 for Model Number whirlpool gas range sf377pegv7 My Whirlpool gas oven was over heating, then stopped turning on. I went to check the ignitor and it started working when exposed. Do I put it back together and wait till it malfunctions?
1 Answer Hello Sam, You should check the oven temperature sensor. This is where most temperature control issues arise and is common to be intermittent. Test the sensor for about 1100 ohms at about 70°F and be sure to tap on it during the test in case of an intermittent connection inside the sensor. If out of tolerance by more than 10%, it will need to be replaced. If tested good, go to the board connection and re-test. If it then tests bad, there is a harness issue. Read More...
Dave March 13, 2015 for Model Number CRG9700CAE My broiler doesn't ignite/heat up, although occasionally it will have a low flame, i.e. it is getting a little gas but not enough to function properly. At this point I've used a clamp-on meter and have 3.6A draw on the igniter but I'm only getting 2V to the gas valve (the broiler side of the dual valve.) I also tested continuity on the valve and it appears to be fine. Is it possible the igniter is bad or is there something else I should test? Thanks
2 Answers Hello Dave. If there is only 2 volts to the valve, you need to replace the ignitor. Read More...

2 Answers Hello Dave, Since you have the proper current draw at the ignitor, this issue will be caused by a bad oven valve WP74006427. The voltage reading must have been taken under a load since there cannot be 3.6 amps drawn without 120Vac applied to this circuit. Read More...
Matt March 12, 2015 for Model Number U91E-3X I cannot find a flame switch for my oven. Can you tell me what flame switch is compatible with my model # Magic Chef, U91E-3X? Thank you.
1 Answer Matt, I believe your model should be U91F-3X (F instead of E). The flame switch is part number 7403P010-60. Unfortunately, this item has been discontinued with no further replacements or cross references available and our company is unaware of any other available sources. Sorry about that! Read More...
Mary January 14, 2015 for Model Number jgbp36selss ge stove When you turn the oven on 300°F the igniter comes on but goes out while heating up. It then comes back on. The igniter does not stay on. Should the igniter stay on all the time during cooking?
1 Answer Hello Mary, The oven will cycle the burner on and off as heat is needed to maintain an "average" temperature. This is normal as long as the unit is reaching temperature. The ignitor will come back on when more heat is needed to re-ignite the burner. Read More...
