Mike November 13, 2012 for Model Number Jenn Air wall oven - gas I have a Jenn Air gas wall oven, roughly 12 years old. About 2/3 of the times the oven does not heat up. The broiler does heat up. I took out the bottom panel inside the oven and can see the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not come on. I have read that the ignitor can become weak so that it glows but does not pass enough amps to turn on the gas valve. How do you replace the ignitor? The wires go through a hole in the back of the oven through some insulation. I can feel where the wire then continues through a hole in a second wall an inch or two back. How do I get at the wiring harness connector to replace the ignitor? Do I have to pull the oven out of the wall? Thanks, Mike
1 Answer Hello Mike. You can splice the wire for the unit and use ceramic wire nuts to put the wires together. Read More...
Vernon M October 18, 2012 for Model Number Magic Chief model 3221XTW - oven igniter part #AP4012072 I ordered and received the oven igniter, part #AP4012072 today. I just installed the new part and turned on the oven. The oven came on but the igniter stayed lit and does not turn off once the oven is on. I don't remember seeing the igniter staying on once the oven is on, so I'm wondering why it is staying on now. Any suggestions? Let me know. Thanks, Vernon Martinez
1 Answer Hello Vernon. It is normal for the igniter to stay on in the unit when you have the oven turned on. Read More...
Corey M October 09, 2012 for Model Number Hardwick CJ9641A590R First time we noticed anything with our oven we had the following issue. The oven started to smell like gas when we went to turn the oven on. I opened the door and saw an orange glow, but no blue flame present. We turned the oven off, and then about two minutes later, tried it again, and then the blue flame was present. Did not have another problem for about 3 weeks. Now the oven will not light at all. The "glow plug" lights up and stays bright orange, but there is never any flame present. I do not hear any gas, nor do I smell any gas as long as the glow plug is lit. Just wondering if I need a new igniter assembly P/N AP4012072.
1 Answer Hello Corey. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. John October 07, 2012 for Model Number PGS968SEM1SS My Convection oven does not heat up. The Broiler is fine. My igniter part number on the oven igniter is 229C5216P001. What part is the correct one? I see several that appear to be the same. I do not need the plastic connector and could use the wire nuts.
1 Answer Hi John, the bake ignitor for your model is part# WB13T10045 and if you need wire nuts, use part# TJMA01166-1. Here's a link to help you determine the problem. Hope this helps! http://www.appliancepartspros.com/repair-help/rangeoven-repair-help.html#gas Read More...
Peter August 29, 2012 for Model Number Caloric RXS214 Hi, I have a Caloric wall oven and it has ceases to light. The igniter turns red/orange but the burners will not turn on. I watched you video on replacing the igniter. When i look at the igniter in the over, it has a porcaline/ceramic "sleeve" and has no exposed wires. The sleeve connects the head of the igniter to the back of the oven. Do you know what part can replace this unit?
1 Answer Peter, you have the incorrect part number. The part you will need is 786324. In your case, you should find that the igniter is also mounted to the back wall of the oven cavity, and you will need to remove the screw(s) that hold the metal plate sorrounding the igniter, in order to access and disconnect the wires, in order to replace the weak oven igniter. Rob August 23, 2012 for Model Number part WB2X9154 stove igniter The part you sent is installed but their is no connector to cut out. The current igniter is just wired in with caeramic wire connectors. Does it matter which white wire I connect? The problem is they are all white. Is one positive and one negative?
Kim July 27, 2012 for Model Number 79071152700 I need an ignitor for my oven. Is the only part that I can use part #316489402 or is there a generic less expensive igniter that I can use?
1 Answer Kim, the only igniter that the manufacturer has available as an alternate to your replacement (part number 5304509706) is ignitor part number 5303935066. Thanks! Read More...
Michael July 19, 2012 for Model Number VGCC5366BSS When reattaching the spliced igniter wires to the quick connect terminals on my viking range are there specific terminals that should be used due to heat considerations from the oven?
1 Answer Hello Michael. No, just as long as the wires are connected they are fine for the igniter. It is a closed circuit. Read More...
Michael July 19, 2012 for Model Number VGCC5366BSS I watched the install video and My oven is slightly different which means I need to cut off the existing connector because it uses a quick connect terminal. I want to know if the extra red wires that it shipped with can be joined together with the porcelain wire nuts because one of the wires is too short to reach the plug where it needs to be plugged in. Please help with installation.
1 Answer Hello Michael. Yes, that is the reason for the red wires in the kit 12400035. You insert the round ends into the connection, and then wire the other into the wiring on the unit. Use the supplied wire nuts for the install. Read More...
