Will H. July 02, 2012 for Model Number cwg3100aae I recently installed a temperature sensor I received from you which was a fairly simple task. During the process the oven bottom slipped out of hand and I believe came in contact with the igniter. After re-assembly the the problem I was having(error message f-2 or f-5 after reaching 395 degrees) appeared to be resolved as the oven reached 450 degrees with no problem. @ days later the oven would not heat up. I noticed that the igniter did not glow at all. Is it possible that I did damage the igniter even though the oven operated after reassembly? Other than voltage tests, is there any way to determine if the igniter is bad? Would I smell gas or would the safety valve prevent that? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Will. The best way to test is with a voltage check. If there is 120 volts to the igniter, and it does not glow, you will replace the igniter 12400035. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mel June 30, 2012 for Model Number Cannot find model # My Maytag wall oven(24") takes a long time to heat up...igniter glows but no flame and seems to be getting worse. Sometimes takes over 30 minutes to heat? Is this just an ignitor problem or something else? My user's guide says model # is cwg4100,4600,3100,or3600. I'm not sure how to tell which I've got. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Mel. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html We will need your model number to help you with this. Denissa T. June 21, 2012 for Model Number 34jn-3tkxw My oven will come on but I can't get it to heat any higher then 150° can you please tell me what I need to buy to fix it? When I frist bought it, it would heat up to 300°, but over time it started going from 300° degrees to 150° degrees. If you can help me fix it by telling me what part I need to buy I would be very thankful. Thank you for your time. Denissa
1 Answer Hello Denissa, This sounds like the temperature sensor 12001655 has failed. If it tests from 1050 to 1100 at 70°F the control is probably the issue. Please not that the part number I listed is for the 3" sensor. For the 6 inch sensor order 12001656. Read More...
Don March 15, 2012 for Model Number Magic Chef The Energy Engineered Range (wall oven) My oven is an older wall mount Magic Chef oven, oven above, broiler below. My oven wouldn't turn on and we could smell gas. The igniter isn't getting hot enough to turn the oven on. I have looked all over this thing inside and out and cannot find a model number on it for the life of me. The only thing I could find numbers on is the schematic on the side. OD-008-201-99 DIAGRAM NO. 8105P344-60 The ceramic on the flat igniter is 3 3/4" long, and about 5 3/4" to from end of ceramic to tip of element. Do you think this is the correct igniter for my oven? And does it matter which wire connects to which? My clip is toast. I will have to connect them back individually. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Don. Based on the measurements you provided, 5303935067 is the correct igniter. The magic chef one has been discontinued, but this is a cross reference part. Hope this helps. Read More...
Stu I. February 26, 2012 for Model Number Maytag CRG9700CAE Is this the correct igniter for the broiler? Also, how do you get to the wire connector? Is the opening in the back of the oven large enough for this to be pulled through or do you have to remove the back cover to get to the connector?
1 Answer Stu, the igniter 12400035 is the bake and broil igniter used on your appliance. You will remove the igniter from the burner bracket and pull it out and the connector on the igniter will come through the opening. You may needs to wiggle it, just a little bit, but it will come out. Hope this information helps you, thanks! Read More...
Manny C. January 29, 2012 for Model Number GAK28HG-OD or 0D The electric igniter works only by turning on one specific burner. Regardless of which burner we want to use we have to turn that burner on. Then turn that off when the one we want lights. The stove is a Glenwood 36" wide 4 burner with grill in the middle.
1 Answer Hi Manny. On each of the surface switches there are spark switches on the shaft. When you turn on the burner valve, the switch closes the 2 wires connected to the switch and sends the voltage to the spark module to then send the voltage for the corresponding igniter to spark. Having said all of that You need to change all 3 spark switches (one on each shaft) so they are individually controlled. Thank You. Read More...
Lynn January 10, 2012 My Maytag oven is not working. The stovetop works fine, but when I turn on the oven I get a puffing sound and a slight gas smell. The oven will start to heat up, but won't go past 200 degrees. What is likely the problem?
1 Answer Hello Lynn. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. Thanks
