The Flat Style Oven Igniter Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. It is designed to ignite the gas in the oven burner, facilitating the start of the heating process. This igniter is crucial for ensuring your oven heats up quickly and efficiently, providing the necessary flame for cooking and baking.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Igniter include:

  • The oven failing to heat up or taking a long time to reach the desired temperature.
  • A noticeable gas smell when the oven is turned on, indicating the gas is not igniting.
  • The igniter glowing without producing a flame, which can point to a lack of adequate temperature to ignite the gas.

Causes of a bad oven igniter can include the wear and breakdown of the igniter element over time, a faulty electrical connection, or a disruption in the gas supply.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Flat Style Oven Igniter Kit (Part Number: OEM12036225)

Will H. for Model Number cwg3100aae

I recently installed a temperature sensor I received from you which was a fairly simple task. During the process the oven bottom slipped out of hand and I believe came in contact with the igniter. After re-assembly the the problem I was having(error message f-2 or f-5 after reaching 395 degrees) appeared to be resolved as the oven reached 450 degrees with no problem. @ days later the oven would not heat up. I noticed that the igniter did not glow at all. Is it possible that I did damage the igniter even though the oven operated after reassembly? Other than voltage tests, is there any way to determine if the igniter is bad? Would I smell gas or would the safety valve prevent that? Thanks

Hello Mel. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html We will need your model number to help you with this. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

Hello Denissa, This sounds like the temperature sensor 12001655 has failed. If it tests from 1050 to 1100 at 70°F the control is probably the issue. Please not that the part number I listed is for the 3" sensor. For the 6 inch sensor order 12001656.

Don for Model Number Magic Chef The Energy Engineered Range (wall oven)

My oven is an older wall mount Magic Chef oven, oven above, broiler below. My oven wouldn't turn on and we could smell gas. The igniter isn't getting hot enough to turn the oven on. I have looked all over this thing inside and out and cannot find a model number on it for the life of me. The only thing I could find numbers on is the schematic on the side. OD-008-201-99 DIAGRAM NO. 8105P344-60 The ceramic on the flat igniter is 3 3/4" long, and about 5 3/4" to from end of ceramic to tip of element. Do you think this is the correct igniter for my oven? And does it matter which wire connects to which? My clip is toast. I will have to connect them back individually. Thanks!

Hello Don. Based on the measurements you provided, 5303935067 is the correct igniter. The magic chef one has been discontinued, but this is a cross reference part. Hope this helps.

Stu, the igniter 12400035 is the bake and broil igniter used on your appliance. You will remove the igniter from the burner bracket and pull it out and the connector on the igniter will come through the opening. You may needs to wiggle it, just a little bit, but it will come out. Hope this information helps you, thanks!

Hi Manny. On each of the surface switches there are spark switches on the shaft. When you turn on the burner valve, the switch closes the 2 wires connected to the switch and sends the voltage to the spark module to then send the voltage for the corresponding igniter to spark. Having said all of that You need to change all 3 spark switches (one on each shaft) so they are individually controlled. Thank You.
