Lou November 06, 2012 for Model Number Maytag MDE8400AYW I have checked everything you previously suggested. That is not the problem. Any other suggestions for NOT HEATING other than the heating element?
1 Answer Hello Lou. If all of that is good, then the motor or the timer is bad and will need to be replaced. You can test from the heater and see where you are losing voltage at on the unit. Then replace the part that is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Lou November 06, 2012 for Model Number Maytag MDE8400AYW My Maytag Dryer MDE8400AYW turns on but there is no heat. Dryer keeps running without drying clothes. Please help!
1 Answer Hello Lou. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Brian May 26, 2012 for Model Number MDE9700AYW my maytag neptune will not dry clothes all the way. everytime it will stop in the middle of drying with the panel lit up and not come back on for quite a while. Other times it kicks off and the control panel goes black, but lights back up after awhile. It takes all day to dry one load?
1 Answer Brian, Have you seen any error codes in the display ? The issue could be an overheating motor WP35001080, due to a lint build up on the motor or worn motor bearings, or possibly a safety thermostat WP35001080 opening , due to an overheat situation, due to a restricted or kinked exhaust vent. We're sending you some information, so you can conduct some tests and diagnostics to help pinpoint the issue. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Roger April 24, 2012 for Model Number LSE7804ACE (747G) Our dryer appears to work fine but doesn't dry clothes unless you run them thru 5-6 60 min. cycles. I opened the front access panel on the dryer and saw the heat element come on; the cycle was 45 sec. on and 180 sec. off. This seems like too long an off cycle. I checked thermostat fuses 3-06604 & 3-07473 and both had continuity (closed ckt.). I did notice that the single terminal located on the outside of the heater coil shroud that connects black wire #33 to the front of the heater coil element would spark internally for 1-3 sec. prior to the heater coil coming on. This terminal had no part #. Could this be the problem? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Roger. Yes, a loose connection could be the issue, but the first thing to look for is a restricted vent. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Monte K. February 19, 2012 for Model Number DE7500 Dryer Our dryer doesn't regulate the heat right, gets a little too hot, and it doesn't cool down during the cool down period. I was just wondering what I can check?
1 Answer Hello Monte. Sounds like your cycling thermostat is stuck. This thermostat is found on the blower shroud WP307249. Good luck! Read More...
Pop Pop January 06, 2012 for Model Number LDE8404ACE (Maytag) The dryer runs fine, just never heats. What should I check for? I'm guessing easiest/most likely would be: 1. Thermal fuse (should read 0 ohms if OK?) 2. High limit thermostat (though I wonder if this failed it wouldn't allow the dryer to turn the drum at all) 3. Heater element (what is the typical resistance of a good element?) Let me know please.
1 Answer Hello Pop Pop. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater WPY308612 and thermostats WP303396 and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Then Chau October 16, 2011 for Model Number Maytag LDE8626AMC Please help my Dryer work only it cool went it hot it don't turn the drung and make noise, but I wait for it cool down and it work again. do I need to change Fuse, Thermal Part Number: AP4037790 Made by Whirlpool
1 Answer Then, I'm having difficulties, If I understand you, Your dryer runs and heats, but makes noise the shuts off, you have to wait for the dryer to cool down , then it will operate again. If thats the case, you most likely need a new dryer motor W10410999 it's overheating and shuts down on the overload. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Steve September 07, 2011 for Model Number MDE5500AYW Re: Dryer problem: Thanks a lot! I did look in the lint port, couldn't get at the blower from there, but did get the drum to spin, plugged the dryer in, and now it works great again! You guys saved me a $100 service call, and buying parts I didn't need. Now.....Is there a special vacuum attachment I can buy to get down in that lint trap area? There is still some debris, including long straight pins, around the blower fan. Steve
1 Answer Hello Steve! Great, I'm glad that we could help! Yes, we have a full length dryer vent brush to help remove lint built up in dryer venting systems. The part number is TJRLE202. Thanks! Read More...
Steve September 05, 2011 for Model Number MDE5500AYW Our dryer will not turn on. When I press the start button, it starts to kick for a second and then stops, not even a partial revolution of the drum. The display works correctly as far as I can tell. When the door is open, I get the door open reading. All settings seem to work properly, and displays come up normally. It is just when I hit the start button that it shuts down. I suspect it is the thermal fuse, which I believe is part number AP4043259. It looks like it on the base next to the drum. Would there be another part that could also be causing this?
1 Answer Steve, I would not expect you to have a bad thermal fuse. Were that the case, the motor would not attempt to start, I would have to suspect a voltage drop below 105 VAC when the dryer is started, check the connections at the terminal block on the back of the dryer. A small article stuck inside the blower wheel, causing a jam and not allowing the motor to rotate. or a bad motor WP33002795. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Lorraine September 01, 2011 for Model Number MDE6400ayw We have replaced the door switch, timer and tested the thermal fuse. Dryer still doesn't work. It does not have a push to start switch. Should I replace the thermal fuse just in case????? Could it be the motor? It made no sound no squeak just would not turn on one day.
1 Answer Hi Lorraine. Did you get the response we sent you yesterday? However, Take out the drum and see if the motor will run with the door switchjumped between Yellow and purple. I have (very rarely) seen a thermal fuse ohm closed but not be able to carry the amount of amperage needed for the motor. The thermal fuse is part # WP307473. The motor has to have 120vac on the blue and white to run, but 240vac between blue and black. The motor is part # W10410997. Thank you. Read More...
