Lestouffer September 14, 2017 Have a Whirlpool dishwasher which seemed to have a bad heating element. In fact it snapped in half at a blister looking thing when we replaced it. But the replacement isn't getting hot at all. And after watching 10's of videos on this, we are 99.99% sure we did it right. What are the chances of it being a bad element? Is there somewhere else we should be looking for? Does the orientation of the plugs on the bottom of the element make any difference? Or just as long as they are fully seated?
1 Answer Hello Lestouffer. Chances are either the thermostat is bad or the control board has failed. It is very unlikely the new heater is bad. It should read closed for continuity if the heater is good. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Rob September 11, 2017 for Model Number whirlpool Is it possible for something to malfunction and the heating element to get to hot? Mind appears to get "white" hot. I notice this if I open the door while it is washing to put something else in. Thx.
1 Answer Hello Rob. Usually the element turns white from using to much soap in the unit. You can use some dishwasher cleaner to try to remove the white from the element. If the element gets to hot, it will damage the tub. You probably opened the door during a drying cycle or heating the water up. Read More...

Thomas Ruf March 22, 2017 for Model Number DU1055XTSS2 Dishwasher stopped mid cycle. "Clean" button flashes 7 times, then a pause, then 7 times (over and over). I bought replacement heating element and changed. When I turned breaker box back on, it started doing exactly the same. Called Whirlpool and they said only way to reset panel is turn power off 1 minute, then back on. That obviously happened and didn't reset it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
1 Answer Thomas, Test the thermostat for continuity. If there is continuity then it is good and the issue will be the control board of the unit. Read More...

Morgan October 10, 2016 for Model Number Wdt710paymo We have a whirlpool gold series Wdt710paymo. We've replaced the heating element, but dishes are still not drying. Steam doesn't come out of the dishwasher (as it did when it dried), and the element is nit even warm to the touch after running. Do I need to replace the high limit thermostat? If so, what is the part?
1 Answer Morgan, You will want to test the high limit thermostat WP661566 to make sure that it has continuity. If there is continuity then the thermostat is good. If there is no continuity then it would need replaced. If the thermostat checks good for continuity then the control board will most likely be the cause of failure. The control board part number is W10479763. Read More...
Lyle B September 25, 2016 for Model Number mdbh949paw4 Our Maytag dishwasher trips the breaker part way through the wash cycle . Water doesn't drain until after resetting breaker and pressing drain. Dishes look clean
1 Answer Lyle, You will want to check the heating circuit of the unit. This will be the most likely cause and will want to check the heater to make sure that there is no damage to it. If the heater checks ok then you will want to check the wiring from the heater to the control board and if the wiring checks ok then the issue will be the control board. This is the most likely cause for the issue. Read More...
