Tina April 27, 2013 for Model Number GG9200LW1 The knob on the face which selects the dry cycle is broken. But when I look at the replacement part the knob does not have a shaft so it appears that mine broke off inside since the shaft is still attached to knob. I know I need the new knob ( also the little plastic pc. is broken that locks in allows it to turn ) but how do I remove the broken piece still inside , and then what parts do I need . I did not see that part on the diagram. I guess the face ( control panel)has to come off to retrive it ? Is it something fairly easy to do ? I am in the middle of nowhere really nowhere building border patrol houses so I have to do it myself plus drive 120 mile round trip to get my mail when the part is delivered. So I am stuck and need my dryer working running out of clothes !
1 Answer Tina, You will need to get the user interface since the shaft for the knob to go on broke off. Read More...
Dave April 23, 2013 for Model Number GGW9200LW0 The cycle selector is getting flakey I believe. Cannot get some cycles to be selected. For example, when the selector is pointed to the 9 o'clock cycle, the LED for 11 o'clock lights up. This happens for about 4-5 of the cycles. I think the user interface board needs to be replaced. However, there is some talk about a potentially bad ribbon cable which is part of the console panel. I have not had the unit apart yet. Would you lean toward replacing the user interface P/N 8530589?
1 Answer Dave, The console on the unit does not come with the ribbon harness and you would need to replace the user interface. Read More...
Sid March 04, 2013 for Model Number GGW9200LQ1 My whirlpool dryer has dashes in the display for 3 of the rotary switch settings. I'm going to do the resistance test described in the trouble shooting guide to test the UI board. Is there anything else I should look for before I replace the UI board?
1 Answer Hello Sid. According to the tech sheet it is either the ccu or the interface board. The manufacture recommends replacing the ccu and if it continues, replace the interface. There really is no test for this other than trying a reset by unplugging the unit. Read More...
Mike April 06, 2012 i have a duet dryer,i push the start button and it does not come on or light, if i try it later it comes on, problem seems to be intermittent
1 Answer Mike, Before you replace the U/I (user interface), you need to check the loading door, make sure it is properly aligned to the front panel and opening, both door latches are catching and holding the door 279570 and the door switch WP8283288 and wiring are working proper. If all's OK then replace the U/I (user interface). Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Sheila February 19, 2012 for Model Number GEW9200LW0 My dryer comes on you can make any selections you want but when I hit start it just beeps at me like when the door is not shut good and does not start. I have made sure the door is shut good and light does go off with door secure. It did this once before several months ago. I had a repair man come out...he took it apart couldn't find what was wrong so was going to pick it up to take into their shop the next day and the next day. I just tried it and it started and has worked fine until now. What could this be?
1 Answer Hello Sheila. You will need to check and see if the door switch WP8283288 is bad on the unit. If so, it will cause the unit to not work properly and adjusting the door like you were describing, will cause the unit to work. Hope this helps. Read More...
Mike February 05, 2012 for Model Number GGW9200LW1 My panel turns on, we can make our adjustments, but when we press start the dryer just beeps and does not light. What would you think is the problem?
1 Answer Hello Mike. Check and see if the thermal fuse WP3392519 or the door switch WP8283288 and see if they are bad. They should read closed for continuity with the door closed. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Peter January 27, 2012 for Model Number ggw9200LQ0 When drying in automatic mode, heavy duty or normal selection, the timer starts at 56 minutes, decrements correctly for about 6-7 minutes, then jumps down to 24 minutes left, then will jump up to 40 minutes for a few minutes then start beeping that the cycles has finished. It seems to work in manual mode with no issues. Please help. Peter
1 Answer Peter, You want to check and clean the drum sensor bar of debris and lint, and clean the metal strips with "alcohol", a build up of softner oils could cause the bars to stop sensing the dampness of the clothes, and shorten the auto dry cycle. We wouldn't expect you to have and issue with the control or user interface at this point. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
