Am I looking at a latch motor problem or a control board problem?
1 Answer Hello Scott. 1. Press CANCEL>CANCEL>START to enter the Diagnostics Mode and verify the failure. If failure displayed does match, go to Step 2. 2. While in Diagnostics mode, press the SELF CLEAN key to run the lock motor. If the door is not latched (locked) and the door locked icon is lit, go to Step a. If the door is latched (locked) and the door locked icon is not lit, go to Step b. If the door is not latched (locked) and the door locked icon is not lit, go to Step c. a. Mike March 07, 2016 for Model Number Kitchen aid range YKERA205PS0 Display a door latch mismatch error shortly after the self clean cycle has started. Any suggestion?
1 Answer Mike, You will want to test the door latch assembly to make sure that the switches have continuity. If the switches checks ok then the issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board. Read More...
Lorraine D. August 25, 2015 for Model Number Oven/Range The door does not close when using oven? All the heat escapes.
1 Answer Hello Lorraine, I'm sorry but we will need the model number from the units' I.D. tag to look up parts for you. The issue will not be the door lock assembly since this is only utilized during self clean operations. The issue can be the door hinges, springs, the door liner, or the hinge receptacles. Bill January 15, 2015 for Model Number whirlpool rf377pxg I removed my latch motor/switch assembly and determined the motor was fried (apparently from heat exiting from what appeared to be the overload device below). Part # w10107820 only has one switch on it, and is not compatible? Apparently mine, with two switches, is part #ap3968901, much more expensive. Both my switches appear fine. If I buy a w10107820, can I use it by either installing the second switch in what appears to be screw holes, or could I rob the motor from a new w10107820 and install it on the existing unit I have?
1 Answer Hello Bill, The part that will correct your issue without unforeseen trouble is WPW10107830. Anything else is considered "re-engineering" and if problems arise, this will relieve the manufacturer of any responsibility or liability. Read More...
Robert D December 29, 2014 for Model Number GS563LXSS0 When I start the Clean Cycle on my Whirlpool gs563lxss0 it gives an error of E1 F5. Do I need to replace with part # AP3968900 or should I troubleshoot differently?
1 Answer Robert, To determine the part that you need to replace you will want to do the following: 1. Verify failure if not displayed. Go to manual diagnostics screen 5 to view and clear error codes. 2. Use manual diagnostics screen 2 to check operation of the door switch, latch switch and door latch motor. 3. Open the oven door. 4. Press the CLEAN key to start the door motor. The CLEAN icon will flash indicating the control is driving the latch motor and stop flashing when the motor reaches the locked or unlocked position. The leftmost time digit will display a “1” when the latch is in the locked position and a “0” in the unlocked position. The door position is displayed with the second time digit from the left. A “1” will display when the door is closed, and a “0” when the door is open. 5. Verify that the latch motor moves to the latched position. 6. If the motor did not rotate, go to step 7 (check for mechanical binding and motor wiring). If the motor did rotate, go to step 11 (check door latch switch wiring and circuit). 7. Unplug range or disconnect power. 8. Check integrity of latch mechanism from cam/eccentric, through actuating rod, to latch hook and door slot. Ensure the hook aligns with the door slot. Correct any mechanical malfunction. 9. If latch mechanism is good, check continuity of the latch motor and of the electrical connections between oven control and motor. If continuity is present, replace the control. 10. Go to step 18. 11. Observe the time display. Did the leftmost digit change state from a “1” for locked or “0” from unlocked? - If not, go to step 12 (check door latch switch and wiring). - If it did, go to step 16 (check door switch circuit). 12. Unplug range or disconnect power. 13. Check continuity of latch switch. Check wires and connectors from control to latch switch, then from latch switch to control. - Replace harness if damaged. - Replace door latch assembly if latch switch does not close. 14. If no damage to wires or connectors, replace the control. 15. Go to step 18. 16. Unplug range or disconnect power. 17. Check wires and connectors from control to door switch, then from door switch to control. 18. Replace all parts and panels before operating. 19. Plug in range or reconnect power. 20. Press STOP/CLEAR. Press CLEAN then START. Observe for longer than 1 minute to ensure the operation is normal. 21. Go to step 1 and complete checks. Read More...

Steve W. October 12, 2014 for Model Number wfg374lvb1 I've read numerous replies from other people over the oven door switch, but one thing I've not seen is that the plastic piece continually turns (as if it doesnt know when the door is locked). Is this just the switch gone bad or a major problem?
1 Answer Hello Steve, This is most likely a bad micro-switch on the assembly. The door latch should be replaced as an assembly WPW10107820 as per the manufacturer. There is the possibility that the circuit in the control WPW10424330 is not reading the information being sent to it. Read More...
