The Dishwasher Door Latch Handle is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It ensures that the dishwasher door closes securely, enabling the machine to operate correctly. This handle engages the latch mechanism, providing a tight seal to prevent leaks and allowing the dishwasher to run its cycles efficiently.

Over time, the door latch handle can wear out or break due to frequent use, exposure to harsh detergents, or mechanical failure. Causes of a bad door latch handle include physical damage, internal component wear, or misalignment.

Symptoms of a bad door latch handle include:

  • Difficulty in closing or latching the dishwasher door
  • The dishwasher not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • Leaks around the door during operation
  • The handle feeling loose or not engaging properly

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Dishwasher Door Latch Handle (Part Number: OEM18036873)

Albert B for Model Number KUDPO1ILBL6

My KitchenAid dishwasher latch broke and I ordered replacement part AP303924. I followed the video tutorial and replaced the broker part with the new part. All went exactly as the video showed. After reconnecting the power and water, I started the dishwasher to run it through a cycle. All went well and it started right up and began to fill with water. I checked back about 20 min later and It appears to have gotten half way through the cycle and stopped. I can't' get it to restart. None of the operation lights go on when I push them. I disconnected that power and removed the front panel to check for loose wires or burnt wires etc. All appears to be fine. I also checked the power outlet and it is also working. The dishwasher was working prior to fixing the handle, I just need to manipulate the handle into place to get it to lock, so all was working before I replaced the handle. Did I do something wrong? Appreciate and help in trouble shooting.

Albert, There is a thermal fuse in the area of the control board that you will want to test to make sure that it has continuity. If there is no continuity then the fuse is the problem and will need to be replaced. The fuse part number is 8193762.

K. for Model Number DU1055XTVS0

I have a whirlpool quiet partner 2 series dishwasher #DU1055XTVS0. The handle is loose like there is no tension and I can't get the door to latch in all the way, preventing me from starting a cycle. I replaced the door latch part as well as the strike. Still having the same issues. Nothing looks broken off the handle or latch parts but it's almost like its missing a spring, although according to the compatible parts this handle doesn't need a spring? Any ideas? Thank you!!

Hello Rick. Based on the information you provided, you will need to order and replace the handle and latch assembly on the unit.

Kel Kel, With the door handle flopping around, this would mean that it is broken and would need to have the handle replaced. The part you will need is the door latch assembly WPW10130695 which comes with the handle.

Dave, When looking at the handle and the latch bolt, there are hooks that come off the sides. The spring will attach to the hooks to allow the handle to come back to position.

Joanne C for Model Number KUDP02FRBL0

Hi The door on my KitchenAid dishwasher won't stay shut. Sometimes it shuts but will pop open during the cycle. Today it seems like it won't latch at all. I don't see anything that appears broken or missing. If there is something broken, I am unsure which replacement part to order. The dishwasher door latch handle? Actuator door latch? Or something different all together? I hope you can help, otherwise I may have to hand wash all my dishes (GASP!) Thank you!

Hello Joanne. Check and make sure the unit is level. If it is level, then you will need to replace the latch 8193830 in the unit.
