Hello Freddy, This sounds like the washer cycle selector switch WPW10150079 may have failed. You should pull th3e tech sheet from the units' control panel for troubleshooting with a test meter to be sure. I'm sorry but this is one of those few units that we are unable to pull the wiring diagram for troublehooting.

Jim, With the unit not agitating or draining and with the parts that have already been replaced this sounds likely that the issue will be with the motor or the transmission is locked up.

Marjoria, If the timer is only working intermittently then it would be the timer that would be the issue and would need to be replaced. The timer part number will be WP8557301.

Neal for Model Number Whirlpool washer # Model: LSB6200KQ0

Washer wouldn't drain at all. Took it apart, & found an item lodged in the pump. Great! Just remove item & reassemble. Ugh -- it still won't drain at all. Also, the cold/cold load we just tried is really warm, instead. Did the item stuck in the pump burn out the motor, so it's not pumping, just heating up? Do I need to replace the motor? The other processes all work, and the tub spins fine. What do you think the problem is?

1 Answer

Neal, The issue with the unit not draining would be a faulty drain pump and for the issue with the water coming in warm would most likely be a water valve issue.

Cliff, The motor switch may be the issue, but you should check the drain pump first, it may be clogged or seized and wont allow the washer to drain and spin. Since the lid switch seems to work, the next check would be the timer WP3951702 If the washer fills and agitates, it's not likely to be a defective motor or motor switch. It's more likely you have a failed contact in the timer and the spin circuit to the motor isn't closing, so the washer motor wont run in the spin direction.

John for Model Number Whirlpool LA7800XS

Intermittent problems are the worst. Intermittently when the motor is required to start, it stalls and just hums. Does not matter if it needs to agitate or drain/spin. If I do not perform the following quickly then the motor will go into thermal cut out. If I grab the agitator and shake it forcefully, I can get the motor to spin up and then all runs fine until the next portion of the cycle when the motor stops and needs to restart. It may or may not restart. But shaking the agitator gets it going again. I have checked the capacitor to be good with an ohmmeter. Checked the lid switch to be working. Visually inspected the contacts in the motor starting switch. If I electrically power down as soon as the stall occurs, I find the motor/pump/gearbox assembly to spin fairly freely. This has been a great washer for almost 29 years. If I can isolate down to the trouble spot I would happily spend some money on it to keep it going longer. Any ideas??

John, This issue sounds like it may be a weak motor and would need to have the motor replaced. The motor part number is WP661600.

Chris, The grinding noise would most likely be a faulty bearing issue. You will also want to check the pump assembly to make sure that there is nothing caught in the pump.
