Hello Ron and thank you for your post. Clicking can occur with a motor overload on the motor WP661600, with the timer WPW10243947, if there is floating debris, etc. It would be recommended that the area that the noise is occurring be identified as that can allow for a better idea of what might be affected. The capacitor WP8572717 can be tested for farads after discharging it to identify if it may be causing the motor overload to activate. The capacitor should measure between 189-227 microfarads.

Jose for Model Number LSQ8543JZ0

Whirlpool Whirlpool Washer LSQ8543JZ0. It seems to run ok, however, regardless of the cycle, It will only spin on high (regardless if on high or low spin cycle). There is also what seems to be a burning smell, but can't seem to isolate where it is coming from. The other day it did smoke a bit. I have run the washer through the full cycle a couple of times without repeating the smoke. In looking at website, think it might be motor or transmission, but it does agitate and it does spin, although only high spin, and agitation seems higher than it should be on delicate cycles. Thanks

Jose, when the washer is set to a low spin, there should be 120VAC going through the orange wire at terminal 6 of the timer. If there is voltage, the next step would be testing for 120VAC at the blue wire on terminal 5. If there is 120VAC at terminal 5, the timer WP3953321 has failed. If there is not 120VAC, the failure would be in the motor WP661600

Kathy, the cause would depend on when this is occurring. If it is occurring as soon as the washer starts to fill with water, the water valve 285805 would be the cause of failure. If this is occurring when the motor starts to agitate, the capacitor WP8572717 would be the likely cause of failure.

Sadie Mae for Model Number WTW5540SQ0

Washer runs the wash cycle fine. At next cycle change it will not drain or spin, it just hums. Last time it ran it got very hot, had smoke in my laundry room. I suspect the motor, and I have removed it, but I noticed the drum does not turn freely with everything else disassembled. Does this mean the drum is jammed up? Should it move freely? I looked for obstructions and don't see any, but I haven't removed the drum. Motor has a couple of spots in the inner winding that look like they've been hot. Any opinions appreciated.

Sadie Mae, Based on the information provided I would remove the basket to make sure there are no items between the tubs, and check the pump that there are no foreign objects before replacing the motor.

Scott P for Model Number Roper ras8445jq0

Roper ras8445jq0 washing machine will fill with water, then stop. Will not agitate, drain, or spin when timer is advanced to those settings. Humming sound and electrical burning smell from motor. Buzzing sound corresponds to vibration at pump/motor indicating motor is getting power or trying to work. Removed pump from shaft, am able to turn pump freely by hand (with tool inserted into shaft receiver). Powered on washer with pump removed, same symptoms, motor buzzes and vibrates but will not turn. With pump removed and motor shaft exposed, I am able to turn shaft with fingers, which rotates agitator in tub with water. Motor shaft rotates equally freely whether powered on and buzzing, or powered off. I have not tested motor connections for resistance as I’m not sure what connections to make or readings to expect. Suggestions? Thank you!

Scott, as the transmission was able to rotate the agitator when rotated by hand and there was not an obstruction in the pump, the failure would be in the motor WP661600. This is verified by the motor being supplied with voltage when it is removed from the transmission and the drive shaft being able to be rotated by hand while not rotating on its own.

Hello Bill, you can check for loose wiring connections at the motor switch but this is more likely to be a timer problem, part WP8557301.

Cindy for Model Number 110 9228110

My washer was leaking and I found that the water pump was cracked on the part around the shaft. I removed the water pump with difficulty because the place where it connected to the motor shaft was very corroded. I bought a new water pump and did my best to clean the corrosion off the shaft (used CLR and a razor blade). I had a lot of difficulty putting the new pump on the shaft and had to use a rubber mallet to get it on. During the first use, the part where the water pump goes over the motor shaft broke. I'm not sure if it broke when I was installing it or during the wash (metal and plastic inside of the pump had been twisted and broken). Is it possible to replace the shaft in the motor? I think the problem is the corrosion, but I'm worried about trying to file it down. Thank you, Cindy Humphries
