The Circulation Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for pumping water through the spray arms to ensure thorough cleaning of dishes during the wash cycle. This motor helps maintain consistent water pressure and flow, crucial for effective dishwashing performance.

Over time, the circulation motor can fail due to factors such as motor wear, electrical issues, or blockages that cause the motor to overheat or become damaged. Regular use and the buildup of debris or hard water deposits can also contribute to motor failure.

Symptoms of a bad circulation motor include:

  • Poor cleaning results
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Water not circulating properly
  • Dishwasher not completing cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Dennis, Check to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the circulation motor and if there is not then the motor would most likely be the issue with the unit.

Richard for Model Number Kenmore (Whirlpool) 665.13752K602

I've actually rebuilt the circulation pump motor WPW10757217. The front bearing went out and caused the impellor seal to start leaking on itself or the seal went out and caused the bearing to go bad. It was leaking very slowly on itself for a long time, I noticed oxidation on the front of the pump motor housing around the frozen bearing, so I don't know which came first. I checked the inside of the motor and nothing was damaged. Replaced the front and rear bearings, circlips, and impellor seals. I really had to work the old bearing outer race out of the front motor housing as I did the inner race off of the front end of the shaft with a puller/press, oil, and heat. So in doing this I removed the circulation pump capacitor WPW10334457. I don't know which of the two wires goes where. The capacitor has a 1 or 2 mark above each male connector. There are two capacitor wires, one blue and one yellow. Which male connector is the blue to be attached to and which one to the yellow. There is no tech service sheet on the dishwasher. I did finally find a tech sheet, W10130990, for the dishwasher after a long search on the internet but it is for a few models and wiring colors on the shematics are different.

Richard, The blue will go to the number 1 and the yellow will go to the number 2.

Hello Ed. It is possible if the noise is coming from the circulation pump on the unit.

Hello Bill. Make sure the filters are clean and the water level is good. If so, then look at the spray arms and make sure they are not cracked. If everything is good, replace the circulation pump on the unit.

Bill, It is probably not the circulation motor. It's most likely a lack of water in the tub. Start the dishwasher in a regular cycle, allow the dishwasher to fill and wash for a few minutes(3 to 5 minutes), unlatch the door, remove the lower rack and check the water level and temperature in the bottom of the tub. The water level in the center of the tub should be 3/4 to 1 inch deep or approx. 1/4 inch below the bottom of the heater element. The water temperature needs to be 120 dgrs.F. on the first fill of the cycle. As in most cases, if the water level is not correct, you'll most likely need to replace the water inlet valve WPW10158389.

David, The clean light flashing is an indication that there is a problem with the heating circuit. You will want to test the heater to make sure that it has continuity. If there is continuity then test the thermostat and check wiring back up to the control board from the heater. If this checks ok then the control board would be the issue.

David for Model Number 665.17572202

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher (Model: 665.17572202) fills with water. Sometimes it washes normally but other times it shuts off immediately when attempting to wash or circulate. No lights or error codes. Pressed START again and it shut off again immediately when attempting to wash. Was able to get it to wash normally after 3 or 4 attempts of pressing START. When it runs, everything seems normal (dishes are clean, drains normal, heats normal). I'm guessing I need to replace the circulating pump. What is your recommendation?

Hello David. Based on the information you provided it sounds like the control panel WP8530851 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Ken for Model Number kuds30Ixss-4

I have replaced the control board twice already. Recently we realized the dishes in the top rack are not being cleaned as if no water at all is reaching them and the dishes in the bottom rack are barely cleaned. After a complete cycle we also noticed that although the soap dispenser is open, that some detergent remains inside the dispenser and there remains detergent on the door itself and on the base of the dishwasher, as if very little water is circulating during a run. I replaced the water inlet valve but problem persists. I took the arms apart and all the assemblies checking for clogged holes etc, but all is clean, unclogged. When it runs, it appears from the sounds that it goes through all its cycles (I never opened the door during the cycles), no loud grinding noise, plates are hot and unit even steamy when opened at end of cycle. Is the issue my motor?

1 Answer

Hello Oscar. The only way to get that seal is to order and replace the circulation motor.
