The Auger Motor is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This motor powers the auger in the refrigerator's ice maker unit. The auger rotates during ice-making, ejecting ice from the mold and depositing cubes into the storage bin.

Causes of a bad auger motor can include wear and tear over time from continuous use, or damage from unbalanced ice molds or debris buildup.

Symptoms of a bad auger motor include:

  • Ice maker not producing ice or producing ice inconsistently
  • Ice cubes jammed or frozen together in the storage bin
  • Loud buzzing or grinding noises coming from the ice maker area
  • Inability to eject ice properly into the storage bin

Replacing this OEM Frigidaire auger motor helps ensure consistent, reliable ice production. This replacement part is compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Simone, The crushing of ice happens from the solenoid behind the divider actuating a lever on the ice bucket. Make sure the solenoid is actuating and the lever on the ice bucket is not bound up.

Jfatims, The best way to get the old coupler off would be to take out the auger housing and wedge a screwdriver under the coupler and beat the coupler off. You could also just put the new one in place over top of it and it will still work.

Bob, with the door switch pressed in and the ice bin removed, it would be recommended that the auger motor WPW10317991 is receiving a full 120VAC. If there is not a full 120VAC, the wiring at the hinge will need to be inspected for any damaged wires. If there are no damaged wires, the issue would likely be in the dispenser board WPW10397956.

Rebecca, You will want to remove the dispenser cover and check the switches that are on the dispenser bracket WP2180226. To remove the cover use a flat blade screwdriver under the control panel and pop the panel off at the bottom. Once you do this you will have access to the switches. Make sure that they are not loose in the bracket. If this checks ok then check the wiring at the bottom of the door to make sure that there is no damage to the wiring at the door hinge.
