Al October 10, 2012 for Model Number Maytag superstack MLG2000AWW Machine makes a lot of noise when spinning especially the final spin that extracts the last drops of water from the clothes. I believe the tub bearing is bad. Can I purchase the bearings separately or only as part of the "tub assembly", and what is the part numbers I need?
1 Answer Al, the bearings can be purchased separately. For the front bearing use part number WP22002934 and for the rear bearing use part number WP22003441. If needed, the lip seal kit is part number 12002022. Thanks! Read More...
Byron B. July 03, 2012 for Model Number MAH5500BWW I have the loud whine during the spin cycle mentioned in other posts. It changes with the speed of the spin cycle and its hard to stay in the room when its really spinning. I'm assuming its the front and rear bearings of the outer drum. Can these be purchased separately on a MAH5500BWW or do I have to buy the complete drum assembly? Also, is there a seal involved with this model and are any special tools required? Thanks for the answers.
1 Answer Byron, Yes you can purchase the individual components and repair and replace the bearings and seals. Other than a hammer and a punch or chisel, to knock out the old bearings, no there are no special tools required. You'll need: 12002022 seal and bolt kit, WP22002934 front bearing WP22003441 rear bearing. You may want to "clean up" the tumbler shaft with some penetrating oil and emory cloth, to remove and minor gauges, or scrapes. Thanks Read More...

Stan February 17, 2012 for Model Number mah5500bww Belt jumped off of pulley. I replaced old belt on pulley and motor shaft. Machine ran, but noisey, metal clunking. Belt jumped off again. New belt was very difficult to put on pulley. Had to have someone turn from inside tub to slip on belt. After a two or three turns of puley, by hand, new belt jumped off of pulley towards the tub. Placed belt on again, spinned twice, repeat (belt jumped off). Warp in pulley was not obvious, but I did not inspect closely. Is it the pulley, the bearings, the outer tub, the motor shaft; what's the best probability? How do I make the repair?
1 Answer Hello Stan. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the outer tub assembly 22004465 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...

Dan December 28, 2011 for Model Number MAH6500AWW I bought my Maytag Neptune Washer in 2003 and it makes alot of noise now when its spinning. I had a repair man that didn't see the machine tell me I needed a new bearing and said its to exspensive to fix and you should just buy a new one.Is that correct or can I fix it without costing to much. What is the part I need and can I fix it myself? Thanks Dan
1 Answer Hello Dan. Yes, if the bearings are bad, you will need to replace the bearings WP22002934 and WP22003441 and the seal 12002022. These are not easy to install and will need to be pressed into the outer tub assembly, after the old ones are pressed out. Hope this helps. Read More...
Vince November 03, 2011 for Model Number MAH4000AWW This is a follow up question. Do I need to make any modification to the spindle shaft of my Maytag Neptune Washer before using the revised lip seal? Please note that Maytag Neptune Washer came with the earlier version of the lip seal.
1 Answer Hi Vince. The tub support kit is always best replaced with the tub seal so they mate together well. This kit comes with all necessary hardware. I have heard of some people using Emory cloth to clean the shaft of the old one. My question remains "How long will the trick last"? As any seal mates with a solid movable part, it will wear a "ring-groove" in the metal part. This will allow the new seal to initially mate , but fail soon thereafter. Support Assy. Part # W10181639. John August 24, 2011 for Model Number mah5500bww What is the purpose of the metal spacer between the two bearings in the outter tub assy? There dosen't seem to be enough room for it and still have both bearings fully seated.
1 Answer Hello John. The spacer is used for a run for the bearings to roll on, and is also used to protect the bearings when installed. The bearing have to be pressed into the tub 22004465 to fit properly. Hope this helps. Read More...
