The Suspension Rod Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This kit includes four suspension rods designed to support the washing machine's tub assembly. By absorbing vibrations and stabilizing the tub during the spin cycle, these rods play a crucial role in reducing noise and preventing the washing machine from moving excessively.

Causes of a bad Suspension Rod Kit can include normal wear and tear, overloading the washing machine, or frequent heavy cycles that put extra strain on the rods.

Symptoms of a bad Suspension Rod Kit include:

  • The washing machine is excessively noisy during the spin cycle.
  • The tub seems unbalanced or moves more than usual, even with light loads.
  • The washing machine "walks" or moves from its original position during operation.
  • Unfinished cycles or error codes indicating an unbalanced load.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Randy for Model Number 110.27027600

What are the possible problems that may need to be fixed when the machine gives you a UL code with 12 to 9 minutes remaining on an Oasis top loading machine ? It keeps refilling itself with water trying to level the load but it never does ? Also is there any way to get this machine to spin without having to go through a rinse cycle or any other cycle first ? This machine is supposed to save water and it is wasting tons of it with this issue, lol Thanks Randy

Hello Greg. Ld flashes when the water level does not change after the drain pump is on. ? Is the drain hose or the drain pump clogged? ? Is the drain hose height greater than 96"? ? Is the pressure hose connection from the tub to the machine/motor control pinched or plugged?

Ernest, You will want to check the suspension rods to make sure that there is no damage to the rods. If the rods are damaged then you will need to replace the suspension rods. If the rods check ok then the control board would most likely be the cause of the failure.

Hello Derrick, You should first check the lid switch. If we could please ask you to re-post, we can go into more detail with the complete model number and even provide part numbers. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Hello Marco. Unplug the washer for 1 to 2 minutes. Disconnect the U.I. (touch pad). Plug the washer back in for 1 to 2 minutes. Unplug the washer. Plug the U.I. back in and then plug the washer back in. Codes should then be cleared. Most of the time if no mechanical faults can be found the CCU (Central Control Unit) needs to be replaced.

Hello Henry, The spring noise would be the suspension rods. You will want to check the rods for damage or not being seated properly.

Lindsey for Model Number WTW6300SWO

My Whirlpool Cabrio washer keeps giving me the UL code during the spin cycle. I have read some of the other messages and took the top off of my washer to look at the suspension rods but nothing seems wrong with them. However the tub feels like there is nothing holding it in place anymore. Should I be able to see any obvious need for repair like a loose screw or broken rod? Also I can hear some water in the machine however I have no idea where it is or how it got there. Is that normal? Thanks for your help!

Hello Lindsey, The springs would be the reason that the suspension W10820048 goes bad. A broken rod would be very noticeable. The unit is supposed to have a little water still in the pump and hoses.

Steven

This suspension is an improved design from the original in my 5-year old Cabrio Washer. One of the improvements I see is that the suspension balls now ride on top of bushings instead of directlty on top of greased suspension ball cups. The replacement instructions say to remove all the old grease from the four suspension ball cups before installing the new suspension. My question is: Does any new grease need to be applied to either the ball cups or bushings when installing this new kit, or do the bushings alleviate the need for any grease? Thanks in advance.

1 Answer

Hello Steven, No grease is required as the manufacturer says that the wear from the two plastic parts give the effect of a dry lubricant. Also, I tried lubricating the first one of these kits I installed and it produced out of balance loads, (too much movement of the tub assembly).
