The Suspension Rod Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This kit includes four suspension rods designed to support the washing machine's tub assembly. By absorbing vibrations and stabilizing the tub during the spin cycle, these rods play a crucial role in reducing noise and preventing the washing machine from moving excessively.

Causes of a bad Suspension Rod Kit can include normal wear and tear, overloading the washing machine, or frequent heavy cycles that put extra strain on the rods.

Symptoms of a bad Suspension Rod Kit include:

  • The washing machine is excessively noisy during the spin cycle.
  • The tub seems unbalanced or moves more than usual, even with light loads.
  • The washing machine "walks" or moves from its original position during operation.
  • Unfinished cycles or error codes indicating an unbalanced load.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Hello Manmom, This can be caused by a bad rotor position sensor, harness to it, or the control. If you could please post a new question with the model number from the units' I.D. tag, we can look up the correct part number for you. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Salem, The UL is showing as a unbalanced error which could be caused by the suspension rods being weak, a balance ring that is damaged and solution gone from it. The F1 is caused by the pressure switch being out of range. Check the pressure hose from the control board to the tub to make sure that there is no pinching of the hose.

Hello Brain. It sounds like the gear case W11454734 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. You will need to check it out. If the gear case is good, then you will need to check the motor and control board in the unit.

Hello Jennifer. If the balance ring is good on the unit then the suspension rods would be the next thing to go to. Also, make sure nothing is between the baskets.

John for Model Number WTW6800WB1

I have a suspicion that I have a problem with my suspension, but I'm wondering if I can get away with lubricating the ball supports. The washer performs flawlessly in all cycles, but makes a loud banging noise when agitating, but not during the spin cycle, and I've never had any error codes. Are the rods/balls supposed to twist freely? Mine just wiggle a little, but don't really move much. The rods, springs, supports, everything looks in great condition, so I hate to replace them if it only needs a little lube (if so what type of lube would I use), or if the problem is not related to the suspension. Thanks in advance for your advice.

John, You will want to check the rotor to make sure that the spline is not damaged which could cause this issue. If this checks ok then the most likely cause would be suspension rods that are bad. The rods are not supposed to rotate they stay in one position but allow movement of the tub. No lubrication is required.

Paul, You will want to check to make sure that the balance ring on the inner tub still has liquid in it. If it is then the you will want to check for the inner tub to be moving independent from the outer tub. Look for the support for the suspension spring to be damaged.
