Tommy October 04, 2016 for Model Number WED5100VQ1 My dryer would not dry on Timed setting dry. But I found out it works fine on other side of the dial which is VERY DRY and ECONOMY DRY. Is it O.K, to use like that or do I need a new timer? I also found Temp Setting Switch Plug CHARRED where the resistor or capacitor was touching. Do I need to replace the PLUG or the Switch or both??? Thanks In Advance Tommy
1 Answer Tommy, If the connector is charred at the temp switch would recommend to replace the temp switch and replace any terminals that may be damaged. The timer would most likely also need to be replaced unless you just want to use the auto cycle. Read More...
Mr. Rogers March 26, 2016 for Model Number WED5540SQ0 Dryer always runs on highest heat setting. I cannot lower the temperature with the temperature switch. What part is defective?
Elliot October 22, 2015 for Model Number amana dwjr ele 24060226 fm54 When I turn the dryer on, it makes a loud long beep, like a warning signal or something... And when I open the door there is a burnt smell. Is that a signal that something in particular needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Elliot. You need to check and see what is causing the unit to beep. Test the timer and the motor on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Rlk August 02, 2015 for Model Number WED4800XQ1 The dryer gets super hot on top. Not just warm but hot. Could it be the temp.switch?
1 Answer RLK, It would be unlikely that the temp switch would cause the unit to overheat. You will want to check the venting of the unit from the blower housing to the outside of the home. This is typically the cause for overheating. If this checks ok then the cycling thermostat would be the other cause. Read More...
Jose December 11, 2014 for Model Number WGD5100VQ1 The dryer seems to take too long to dry clothes, it seems like there's not enough heat. I've already clean the lint off of vent and dryer. I've replaced the cycle thermostat and still not heating enough, checked all other components and all checked out ok. Could my problem be the temperature switch located on console? How do you test the switch to see if its good?
1 Answer Hello Jose. Check and see if the flame short cycles or only comes on once and then not again. If so, the coils 279834 are bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Mishee September 21, 2014 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 Hi. My Roper dryer turns on, but produces no heat and will not come on in the no heat fluff cycle. All continuities check out fine. Heating element coils will not come on even though there are no breaks in the coils. I did replace the thermal fuse, but it still doesn't heat up. I reset the breaker as well. Thermal fuse, heating element assembly, high limit thermostat, cycling thermostat, and timer continuities check out fine.
1 Answer Hello Mishee. You will need to test with a meter and see where your losing voltage the to the heater from. Be careful as this is a live voltage test. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Jujube July 16, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool DWJR-ELE-2406026-FM54 The dryer is emitting a burning smell shortly after starting on any of the heated cycles (set on low temperature). On the fluff air cycle there is no smell. It is not a burnt rubber smell. Smells kinda like a hair dryer. We opened it up and vacuumed around the drum, the coils, the lint trap, etc., but it hasn't seemed to make a difference. The exhaust tube and the belt look fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
1 Answer Jujube, We don't expect you to have a problem. Especially if you have vacuumed out the dryer and heater assembly. A 5400 watt heater element can and will produce an odor as it is heating, regardless of temperature selected(high or low), and on air fluff, there is no power to the element, so no odor. In most cases the element odor is "masked" by fabric softener or fabric softener sheets, and you don't notice the odor. Read More...
J.H. January 21, 2014 for Model Number wed5100vq1 My dryer has no heat and the timer isn't advancing. The motor runs, lights on, timer and all sensors have been replaced along with coil reading infinite on ohm meter and fuse replaced. 240v at plug and at dryer. The no heat and timer not advancing problem started when a house breaker popped while I was running a welder on the same breaker.
1 Answer Hello J.H., I would first test the voltage to the unit with the unit on to see if there is a voltage drop when under load. If so, there could be an issue with the breaker or the associated wiring. This test should be done at the terminal block where the power cord connects to the unit. If the power supply checks out good and the prongs on the power cord prongs have no burned spots on them, the issue can only be the timer motor, the timer contacts, the heating element 279838, or the motors' 279827 centrifugal switch. Since the timer has been replaced, this eliminates the timer contacts and the timer motor. Read More...
Jeff November 24, 2013 for Model Number EED4400WQ0 Hi, I have an Estate Whirlpool Dryer Model - EED4400WQ0, Type - DWJR-ELE-2406026-FM54 that will not start. Outlet has 240V power, the thermal fuse is ok, the door switch is ok (both have continuity), and the timer does make a clicking sound when you turn it to the timed mode - thus indicating it is working? What other fuses should I check and where are they? What other items could need replacing? Thanks, Jeff
1 Answer Jeff, The thermal fuse on the blower housing is what you want to check to see if it has continuity. If not then it will need to be replaced. The other thing that you will want to check is to see if there is power getting to the motor when start is pushed. If there is power to the motor then the motor would need to be replace and if not then it most likely will be a bad timer if the door switch is ok. Read More...
Katherine October 23, 2013 for Model Number roper dryer Dryer comes on but switch will not move during cycle and dryer is not hot only cold air no matter which cycle it is on. Due to the timer switch not moving dryer run continuously with no heat.
1 Answer Hello Katherine. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity.
