Diane July 09, 2013 for Model Number ABB2224DEW The freezer gets too cold and the top is warm. The coils behind are full of ice.We have had this reaccuring problem. I have read many of your forum Q&A and still don't have the answers we need. This has been going on for the last two years. My husband checked the defrost heater with his meter and that was good. We bought the thermostat kit in March. We replaced that. The frezzer has frozen up twice sine then. I remember reading there could be threee things to check, but i don't remember what the third one is. Do I need to replace the heater, evaporator cord? Does the board need to be replaced? Do I need to replace the thermistor?
1 Answer Diane, With the heater checking ok and the thermostat being replaced the control board would be the other part that would fail. The control board would need to be replaced. Read More...
Kevina June 10, 2013 for Model Number JBR2286KES Fridge is too cold and freezing the waterline. Can someone provide detail instructions on how to replace the Thermistor. Fridge is JennAir Bottom Freezer JBR2286KES
1 Answer Kevin, " Freezer Thermistor (some models) 1. Remove Thermistor cover WP67003924 located on the Evaporator Cover by inserting a screw driver in slot and releasing tab holding Thermistor cover on. 2. Unclip Thermistor from cover and cut wires to Thermistor. 3. Remove Thermistor." When you splice the new wires into the harness, make sure the connections are good and tight, when you crimp the wire nuts, make sure that is also a good tight crimp, and as a precaution you may want to apply a dab od sealant in the "bell' of the connector so moisture or water cannot seep into the wire connection. Duncan March 15, 2013 I have an a mana frig AFI2538AES (Freezer on bottom) Yesterday the frig temp dropped down below 32. I turned up the temp gauge and nothing happened. I looked this up on line and it is suggested that I need a new thermistor. Where would this be located in the frig and how hard is this to change out? Thanks!
1 Answer Duncan, The thermistor is located in the light compartment at the top of the refrigerator section. You will want to pull the light cover off and on either side of the light there are openings for clips to pull the light assembly down. Once down the thermistor is on the right side of the assembly. You may also want to check the operation of the damper to make sure that it is opening and closing. The damper is located when you pull the ice bin out there is a cover on the left bottom side that you would put a small flat blade into the little hole and rotate up to release the cover. Once cover is off you can pull the icemaker, auger and damper assembly all out as an assembly. You would check the operation of the damper by turning unit on and off by temp up and down. Read More...
Tiger Clarkbar January 26, 2013 for Model Number ATB1915hrw Ice build-up in freezer refig. area warm.
1 Answer Hello Tiger Clarkbar. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Stchaz January 04, 2013 for Model Number ABB2223DEW Runs all the time and gets too cold. Freezer at -10F and will not come up. Lowered setting from 4 to 2. Ice Cream hard as rock!
1 Answer Hello StChaz. You will need to check and see if the thermistor 12002355 or the board WPW10503278 is bad in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. John December 19, 2012 for Model Number MFI 2569 YEM2 The freezer temperature is 26 degrees, if you change the temperature setting on the door the temp will go down to 23 degrees. The refrigerator temperature is where it is supposed to be. The condenser fan is blowing fine. The compressor cycles on and off as required to maintain temperature. I’m thinking a bad thermister in the freezer. What do you think?
1 Answer Hello John, You may want to pull the rear cover off the freezer compartment and check your frost pattern. Your frost pattern should be full frost pattern should cover the entire evaporator coil. If the coils are impacted or the coils do not have a full frost pattern then this will keep the unit from cooling properly. Also make sure your vents have not become blocked. Make sure that your condenser is not plugged with dust. Read More...
Dave October 16, 2012 for Model Number GX5SHDXVY00 Neither the refrigerator nor the freezer are getting cold. When it is left to run for a period of time the compressor gets hot. Both the coil fan and the condensor fan are running but both are only blowing ambient air. What could likely be the cause of the units not cooling along with the compressor getting hot?
1 Answer Hello Dave, It is normal for the compressor to get hot. You need to check and see if there is a click coming from the compressor. Mike J September 06, 2012 for Model Number jsd2695kes i hear flopping noise in frig. compartment and sometimes gets too cold in frig side
1 Answer Mike, The "flopping" noise and getting too cold in the refrigerator compartment, would indicate an issue with the "damper" assembly WP67003903 not the thermistor. You also want to check and make sure, the doors are closing and sealing properly. there are no articles against the walls or hanging over the shelves. Make sure the freezer operating temperature is not below 0 dgrs. F. (3 to 5 dgrs.is the recomended setting). Read More...
Victor July 11, 2012 for Model Number MCD2257HES Thank you for your quick response to my problem. When we first had the problem, we had already decided to purchase a new damper as well as thermistor and installed them on the refrigerator side, so assuming the two parts are working fine, is there anything else you might suggest?
1 Answer Hello Victor. Make sure the fan motor is running properly in the freezer. If so, and the temps are not correct in the fresh food, you will need to replace the control WPW10503278 in the unit. It sounds like it is not reading the thermistor correctly. Make sure there is no defrost issue in the unit as well. Look for frost on the back wall of the freezer. Read More...
