Jfree March 29, 2016 for Model Number PYE4558AYW Hi, Our Maytag electric dryer is taking twice as long to dry clothes. We are using the intelli dry setting mostly. I cleaned the moisture sensors with alcohol and thoroughly cleaned out the entire unit from blower wheel to outside. It is warm in the dryer. Maybe not hot enough. I don't know. What could the problem be? Thermostats? element? Thanks.
1 Answer Jfree, You will want to check the venting of the unit to make sure that the venting is clear. This will be the most likely cause for the longer drying times. If this checks ok then the most likely issue will be in the moisture control board WP33001212. Read More...
Manny M. July 26, 2014 for Model Number PYE2300AYW My dryer runs but it won't produce any heat. I checked the heating element and it is still intact. Does this mean I need to replace the thermostat part no. 53-0771. Need help. Thank you.
1 Answer Manny, First make sure you have 220 - 240 Volts AC at the terminal block on the back of the dryer. If that's OK, there are several thermostats to check. First the hi limit thermostat and thermal fuse LA-1053 on the heater housing, then the cycling thermostat WP31001192 located on the blower housing. All the thermostats should read a "closed" circuit on your meter at room temperature, when you test them. Read More...
Mike April 05, 2014 for Model Number ADE7000 My dryer overheats. I don't find any questions relative to this situation. The vent is not clogged.....the hot air coming out has melted some of the vinyl siding on the house. I don't find a typical thermostat for this model.
1 Answer Mike, Based on the information it sounds like the unit is cycling on the high limit thermostat instead of the cycling thermostat. To determine which thermostat you would need you will have to look at the first 2 digits of the serial number. If the serial number is 10 -14 then you would need part number WP31001192 and if it is 15 or higher you will need part number WP31001088. The cycling thermostat can be found on the blower housing. Another thing to look at is for a shorted heating element. If the heating element is shorted then it will never shut off. Read More...

Get.Western May 21, 2013 for Model Number Adg7000aww Serial #10592656er Dryer stopped getting hot and I made sure the vent was clean.
1 Answer Hello Get.western. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Gary March 03, 2013 I have an older Maytag Dryer (HYE3657AYW). I need to replace the therm. but am confused about all the different item #s . Do I need; L248-80F L248-80D or 53-0771 Thanks for the help.
1 Answer Gary, The Hi Limit Thermostat is rated as L248 - 80 F and is the part listed for the model number you suipplied. However, on this style dryer it is "highly" reccomended to install the LA-1053 Thermostat Kit, and to use all the parts as needed and follow the instructions carefully. Read More...
