For Whirlpool Refrigerator Icemaker Cycling Thermostat (Part Number: OEM18030420)

Sean for Model Number 106.54589400

My Kenmore freezer never stops running and the temp is -35 degrees. The freezer is turning the food rock solid with frost all over it. The defrost cycle is working normally. I unplugged the unit and cleaned all the ice after dropping the freezer temp down to 1 with 1 being cold, 4 normal and 7 coldest and the problem still exists. The fridge side is set at 3 and everything seems to be good on that side. I did see a few ice drips on the air vent coming from the freezer into the fridge. I ran the diagnostics and everything passed (FC Thermistor, RC Thermistor, Evaporator Fan Motor, Compressor and Condenser Fan Motor, Air Baffle Motor and Defrost Heater/Bi-metal. What do you think is causing my freezer to be so cold? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hello Dave, The water inlet valve is always the first suspect with the water dispenser dripping as long as the water pressure supplied to the unit is sufficient. If the water valve isn't the issue with the ice maker, the ice maker assembly will normally solve the issue. If you could post the complete model number or call us at 1-877-477-7278, we can assist you in locating the correct part for your model.

Pam for Model Number Sears Sorry I do not have the model with me

Ice Maker not making ice period. I have water also which works fine. I replaced the water module in the rear bottom of the Ref. Did not have any affect on the unit. The paddle would periododically get stuck I would rinse it out and it would work again. There are (2) what appear to be sensors one on the left of the ref and one on the right that turns the maker on and off however it has a red light blinking which I have been unable to determine what it means. Do you think it could be the sensor which tells if the bin is full?

Hello Pam. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Andy. If there is no ice build up, you will need to check the fan motor and the damper assembly in the unit to see if they are bad.

Anna, You will want to check the icemaker module to make sure that it did not get stuck in the fill position. If the fingers of the icemaker are in the 11:30 to 12 o'clock position then this is the fill position. Check to make sure that the pins in the big gear on the front are not broken. If they are pushed together or one of the pins is broken then the icemaker module W10190935 will need to be replaced. If this is the case it may also be necessary to replace the water valve due to the icemaker sticking could have caused the water valve 61005626 to stick open.
