Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Outer Tub Assembly (Part Number: OEM15920457)

1 Answer

Tony, At present you have the option of the outer tub assembly W10193886 which has all the components needed(tub, seal, shaft, and bearings), or the bearing kit W10435302(shaft, bearings and seal) and tool W10447783. We anticipate the outer tub assembly becoming no longer available once stock has been depleted.

Bryan F. for Model Number WTW6400SW0

I repeatedly get the uL code and washer vibrated a LOT in the final spin, regardless of the spin speed or load size. I think my bearing are in tact, but the shaft is extremely worn where the inner tub/basket should set and it does not move up and down freely. There was excessive rust and gunk in that area also. 1. Should I replace the whole outer tub? 2. Should I replace the suspension spring? 3. How do I know if the metal rings of the basket (where the shaft goes) are bad?

1 Answer

Hello Bryan. if the shaft is worn and rusted, replace the outer tub assembly. I would recommend replacing the shocks on the washer. As for the metal ring, look at it for damage. If rusted or damaged, replace the ring.

Hello! The numbers at the end of Whirlpool models are engineering codes, meaning something on the model has changed. What that is, we do not know. However, if your model is MVWB400VQ you can use model MVWB400VQ0. Just make sure no other numbers are on the model tag plate, maybe spaced out from the model number a little bit. Yes the bearing kit W10435302 will work on your model. You'll also need the tool part number W10447783 to complete the repair. Thanks!

Stacy for Model Number WTW6300SW0

I have a 6-year-old Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6300SW0. During the spin cycle, it has a loud noise that has gotten progressively louder over the last month or so. If we lift the lid and spin the tub by hand, we can hear a grinding noise. My husband is a mechanic, and he said it sounds like bad bearings to him. Is that what it sounds like to you? Can we just buy the bearings for our washer, or do we have to buy the whole outer tub assembly (part no. W10193886)? Are there any other parts we might need?

Wayne, You will want to access the tech sheet and run a diagnostic to see if there are any error codes. This will give you a starting point for what may be going on. Also pull the hub and check to make sure that the hub is not damaged. A damaged hub will cause the unit to not agitate.
