Justin October 28, 2017 I bought a spider 8540680 and a bearing kit, the shaft is bigger than my old spider I need to purchase the rear outer tub that will fit the larger 8540680 spider as I can’t return the spider I purchased.
1 Answer Justin, Please repost your question, and include a model and serial number if possible. We are unable to cross reference the part number you supplied, normally, Whirlpool laundry products do not have a tub bearing repair/replacement parts or a separate spider/shaft assembly, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Mark August 17, 2017 for Model Number GHW9100LW2 After reading all the responses, it would appear that my "spider" broke and the outer tub needs to be replaced along with the spider. How do I contact the manufacturer to replace the spider? Tub motor runs but tub won't spin, plastic ring on front of outer tub is broken. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Rob February 11, 2016 Is part number W10772612 now the front and back outer tub? The price jumped significantly within the last 30 days for just the front which was part 285982. thanks
1 Answer Rob, This outer tub AK64-01263A is just the front outer tub of the unit and not the entire tub. Read More...
Leo August 09, 2015 for Model Number GHW9100LW1 I am guessing the "spider assembly" has broken and allowed the inner tub to flop around and chew up the outer tub at the front. I see that this "spider assembly" is not available for purchase. How do I get this fixed if I can not get the part? Very frustrated, can anyone help?
1 Answer Hello Leo. To repair the issue your having with the unit, you need to replace the rear tub assembly W10772617, inner basket WPW10250573, and the front tub assembly W10772612 on the unit. If the spider is broke, then the bearings will need to be replaced along with the spider and the damaged front tub will need to be as well if it is damaged bad. Read More...
Lee K. July 18, 2015 for Model Number GHW9460PW0 My washer at around 5 min in spin cycle gets very noisey and I've have found a material like fiberglass around the rubber ring that stops the water It really rattles out of balance any ideas?
1 Answer Lee, It sounds like the rear tub bearing W10772618 has worn and the inner basket is spinning off center(wobbling) and the basket has shifted forward and is grinding or shaving the inside of the outer tub W10772607 forming the "fiberglass material" in the bellows/boot. Read More...
Chris March 04, 2015 for Model Number whirlpool-ghw9100lw2 Is there a trick to getting the metal clips back on when putting the outer tub back together?
1 Answer Chris, Most servicers will use a hammer to tap them into place then use an awl, or small screwdriver to align the openings. " When reassembling the tub, be sure to install all the metal clips all around the tub. A hammer may be necessary to do this." Then tighten the screws in a criss cross pattern. Read More...
Bill June 11, 2014 for Model Number GHW9400PTO I need to replace the Front Outer Tub. Is AP3773838 the proper part? Also, while I have it torn apart, what else might I need to replace? Perhaps the shock absorbers, springs, or any other assembly?
1 Answer Bill, To replace the front outer tube the part number W10772612 is the correct part. If the inner tub is rubbing and causing plastic to shave off then you will want to check the inner tub support to make sure that it is not broken. If broken then you would need to replace the inner tub. The shocks and springs would not need to be replaced unless damaged. Read More...
David January 14, 2014 for Model Number 110 45872 400 The front surrounding edge of the tub is damaged and flaking material into the wash. The spin cycle now spins out of round and makes loud noises. Can you tell me what part or parts I should be replacing?
1 Answer David, The material flaking off and into the tub, is most likely the inside of the tub front W10772612 this would be due to the wash basket WPW10250573 spinning off balance and wobbling and rubbing against the front tub. This issue is most likely due to a worn out tub bearing in the rear outer tub W10772617 or a loose or broken wash basket shaft, but that's not that common. In short you're probably going to be replacing all the tubs in your washer. Read More...
Mike October 07, 2013 for Model Number GHW9160 PWO Periodically my clothes come out of the washer with brown/tannish streaks on them. When I took a damp cloth around the tub lip and the front tub cover, I got a bunch of tan color chunks. How can I get into the tub to clean all of this gunk out, and what could this stuff be?
1 Answer Hello Mike. It is fabric softner build up. You need to use affresh cleaner tablets W10549845 in the unit. Read More...
