Ken December 08, 2017 for Model Number mfw2055drm00 When you use the water dispenser or when the ice maker cycles, you get a nasty chatter and no water is dispensed. Almost sounds like the valve slams shut. I thought it was the primary fill valve so I changed it but no help. Before I order the dual valve and try that, is there anything else that would do that. The water pressure is good from the supply, so I don't think that is the issue.
1 Answer Ken, With this issue the most likely cause for the chatter noise would be a filter housing that is faulty and not fully opening to allow the water to flow through. Read More...
John November 24, 2017 for Model Number Whirlpool fridge wsf26c3exf01 The water dispenser operates intermittently. At times it works, at times it does not. When pushing in the switch I hear what seems to be a solonoid but don't know if it is the solonoid for the icemaker clicking while wanting to dispense water. I've replaced the solonoid for the water dispenser about 2 years ago. Could it be working intermittently? Thanks.
1 Answer John, The most likely cause for the issue with the dispenser working intermittently, this would be a faulty dispenser pad that is making intermittent contact. Read More...
Ron H November 09, 2016 On my fridge, the water inlet valve is #W1023800. My problem is the outlet hose from the valve to the water filter is 5/16 necked down to 1/4 at the valve. The hose broke off where the 1/4 was molded to the 5/16. Is there a 5/16 to 1/4 adapter available or will I need to piece up something?
1 Answer Ron, Here is a 1/4" to 5/16" connector that will work for your unit part number 241503901. Read More...
Steve September 08, 2015 for Model Number Whirlpool Refrig WRS537SIAM00 The water dispenser got stuck in the open position. I was able to cycle it to the closed position by unplugging the refrig. When I turned it back on, everything appears fine. Please provide your thoughts on if it is a solenoid valve issue and if it should be changed before it sticks open again. Also please provide replacement part info. When reviewing the parts diagram, it appears that there are 2 possible valves. One is located near the lower back corner of the refrig and the other valve location is unknown. Thanks!
1 Answer Steve, Most likely the water valve will not be the issue. If it was then it would be both valves as both have to be energized in order for water to flow. It would be more likely that the ice door with the switches that would the issue. The part number is W11352595. Read More...
John July 22, 2015 for Model Number GSS26C4XXF03 Should a new inlet valve fix my problem which I have already put a new ice maker in? It was making ice just every few hours then stopped for hours at a time. Now after a few days, no ice but the ice seem to look like it always has.
1 Answer Hello John, While I wish you had included a description of the appearance of the ice, I would recommend verifying sufficient water pressure to the unit. If this reveals no issues, you should then replace the water valve WPW10258562. Read More...
Rich January 17, 2015 for Model Number GSF26C5EXB02 My symptom is no water at the dispenser in the door and no ice. I can hear the solenoid when I trigger the the dispenser and when the icemaker cycles. When the waterline is disconnected from the valve, there is full water pressure. While the waterline was disconnected, I triggered the solenoid and water came back thru the valve. I can't see where both lines in the fridge are blocked? The part # is W10238100.
1 Answer Rich, You will want to check to make sure that there is no kinking of the water lines at the bottom of the freezer door. Also check for a frozen water tank. Read More...
Vasile May 27, 2014 for Model Number GSF26C4EXB00 What is the size of the tubing that goes in and out of the inlet valve W10238100? Thanks.
Brian September 04, 2013 My ice maker on my Whirpool refrigerator is not working. How can I tell if it is the ice maker unit or the solenoid?
1 Answer Hello Brian. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Gary R March 02, 2013 for Model Number GSS30C7EYB00 We have a leak on the water valve inlet Mfg W10238100 and your part number AP4537880. I can see that water is leaking from the plastic compression fitting that the water line is attached to. I was able to release the water line and then push it further into the compression fitting on the valve, but it still leaks although not as much. Is the compression fitting a replacement part or do I have to replace the entire valve/solenoid part?
1 Answer Gary, Unfortunately you will have to purchase the water valve WPW10238100 for the unit as the compression fitting does not come as a separate part. Read More...
Beau September 25, 2012 for Model Number WSF26C3EXF01, So I have a leak in my water line just next to the compression fitting, is there a way to remove the line that is in the compression fitting without having to replace the solenoid? Or do I have to purchase a new solenoid to get a new compression fitting?
1 Answer Hello Beau, Push the water line into the valve hard and while holding the pressure, push the ring around the line toward the valve. As soon as you do this and hold the ring, pull the waterline out. Now to correct the water leak, cut about 1/4 inch of the water line off and be sure the end of the water line is squared off, (it won't seal if it's cut at an angle). Now push the water line into the valve and when it bottoms, push harder. It should "pop" about another 1/4 to 1/2 inch into the valve. To seat the seal, pull on the line without touching the ring.
